Carpe Noctum

Reira was resting on the couch in the living room of AJ’s house when all of a sudden an alarm went off. Immediately recognizing that said alarm meant that someone –most likely human- had breached through the barrier, as if on instinct the witch got up into a sitting position and headed towards the kitchen where Bonnie was. After briefly informing Bonnie that she would go out to check on things, she was out the door in no time.

Instead of blindly going about the human area, Reira teleported to the top of AJ’s roof and decided to scout from there first. From the way that the alarm went off – it rang three times-, she knew that three people had entered the human area and if they were from the Rose Alliance that would mean they would try to find and destroy whatever was keeping the barrier up.

Bonnie has sat in the kitchen and was looking on the Internet for a therapist that she and AJ could use when she heard the alarm. It would only go off it magic people entered, she looked up and when Reira came in and said she would check it out she nodded, but it didn't take long before she got impatient and headed out the front door and looked around. Then by coinsidence she looked up and saw Reira stand up there. "Can you see anyone?" Bonnie called up to her before she walked out on the side walk and looked up and down the street.

"Nope! Not yet at least!" Reira yelled down at Bonnie as she continued to look out in the distance to where she knew the barrier was closest. "Wait a min-.." As she gazed out further, she saw a couple of figures running at full speed. And it looked like they were heading towards AJ’s house. But she recalled the alarm indicating three arrivals.

Hastily looking around while always bringing her sights back to the other two figures, Reira shouted down at Bonnie. "Two suspicious people coming our way!!! I think there’s a third bu- AHH!" She cried out as she felt herself being pushed off the roof. As she was plunging down, she was quick to recuperate and immediately manipulated the wind around her to break her fall. Landing with one knee to the ground, a scowl graced her face as she looked up with anger written in her eyes. Lo and behold, stood the third warlock she was looking for with a devilish smirk and watched as he disappeared and reappeared to another spot on the roof as if taunting her.

Narrowing her eyes, she looked quickly over to Bonnie to make sure she was alright. She wasn’t sure what was worse; having to fight off two warlocks or dealing with one that was able to teleport. What also worried the hell out of her was her friend being pregnant. The only comforting thought in her mind was that she knew her friend could handle herself. Releasing a short growl, she knew that no matter what she had to take out that teleporting warlock as fast as possible. "Bonnie! I’ll take out that bastard. Handle those two for now and I’ll get to you when I can; if you need my help that is." She quickly gave her friend a nod and a cheeky grin before telematerialzing a dagger in her hand and teleporting herself up to the roof top.

Bonnie swirled around when she heard what was going on behind her. When she looked up and saw the third warlock, she feared that he would teleport himself into the house."Don't let him in," Bonnie yelled, there was a part of her who wanted to head back inside and be a human shield for the candles and a part of her who had to make sure that the two others wouldn't come close. That was when a lid from a trash can came flying straight by her head. She jumped and looked around until she noticed the two others who came walking up the street straight towards. So one of them could telekinesis. Her eyes fell on a garden gnome that stood in one of the neighbours' garden and the next second it flew straight towards the two warlocks, where it hit one of them so it knocked him out momentarily. At least Bonnie would have some time where she only had to deal with one. She knew that she had to focus, cause her abilities just might come in handy, as the warlock who hadn't been hit came closer she realised it was the one with the telekinesis, cause he soon started to throw all objects he saw in her direction, everything from toys, to mail boxes and bikes, but Bonnie managed to ward them off by throwing them in another direction. "Now sister, why don't you do the right thing and step back, you don't want to risk anything happening to that cute little bump you have there," the warlock said with a dark smirk. Bonnie placed a hand on her growing belly in a protective way, but not once taking her eyes off him.

Hearing Bonnie yell out to her as she landed back to the surface of the roof, she quickly yelled back "Will do!" Before bringing her attention back to the warlock in front of her. "Give it up girly. This town doesn’t stand a chance against the Rose Alliance. Why even try? Now let us get rid of that fancy barrier of yours… and we’ll leave you and your pregnant friend down there unharmed and alive." He said with a cold smile and calm demeanor. Reira narrowed her eyes at the demand before bursting out in laughter like the warlock just told her the funniest joke in the world.

When she was done laughing, she glared intensely at him with a playful grin. "Don’t make me laugh. What makes you think you’re going to benefit out of all this if the Rose Alliance wins… which they aren’t." Holding out her dagger, she engulfed the blade of the dagger with blue flames; the color indicating the fire’s highest intensity of heat. When she held out her free hand, a transparent diamond-like crystal appeared attached to the back of her arm and jutted out shaping itself into a curved blade. "You chose the wrong side, dude." She said in a low voice before charging towards the warlock.

Predictably he teleported out of the way and being a teleporter herself, she knew his next move was going to teleport anywhere that wasn’t in her line of view and take a swipe at her. Being two steps ahead, she ducked down and looked up to see the warlock’s arm punching the air. She then grabbed onto his arm and threw him over her shoulder so that he was slammed onto his back. Reira held the fiery dagger up in the air, intending to stab the dark warlock in the heart but of course, he disappeared before she could do so. This process went on repeatedly. As the fight intensified, it got to the point where both teleporters barely kept to one location –it was even take to ground level at times- for a second having to constantly teleport out of the way from each other. There were times where the witch was able to injure the warlock and the same could be said vice versa.

Bonnie had only eye for the warlock, so she didn't know how Reira was doing. "You won't get close enough to do anything," Bonnie said. The warlock smirked and started to say incantations and she knew that he would try and put a hex on her or something. She focused on the warlock and it was soon clear that he was about to suffocate, she started to move her hand over the ground and a kind of mist started to appear, she pushed it over towards the warlock so he couldn't see anything. For some reason when her life depended on it she could use her elemental generation, but then again things started to fly towards her, but the warlock couldn't see her for the mist. Then as if she pushed someone she forced her hand towards where the warlock was and you could hear a scream as he was pushed back. Bonnie walked down the street, she caught some movement to her right, probably some of the people who lived in the house who were looking out the window, but she couldn't really be bothered to hide her abilities, she had a couple of warlocks to get rid of. She could feel the power rush she felt when she used her abilities, something she had always been afraid of, because she feared that she would go dark. As she walked the clouds above started to pull together in what looked like a thunder storm and it didn't take long before you could hear a distant rumbling. Bonnie cleared the mist with a simple hand movement and could now see the warlock who had gotten the air knocked out of him. She grabbed him by the collar and gave him a good punch. "You've messed with the wrong witch," she hissed and gave him another hard blow right on the nose. There was force behind the punch, thanks to her boxing lessons she had taken over the years. Bonnie was a thunder cloud in mind and that was exactly what was happening over the humans' area a huge thunder cloud was coming closer.

Reira had just managed to take another swipe at the warlock with her dagger when her attention was taken away by a massive thunder cloud steadily approaching despite the sky having been a clear blue sky not even a few minutes ago. What was going on? The staggering warlock took the opportunity to punch the witch in the stomach which had enough force to stun her momentarily. She was definitely not thrilled.

Her next moves were purely sourced from her elemental generation. A barrage of elemental techniques was thrown at him one after the other, from using a water whip, to lashing him with air discs and sparring with fire. Currently, she was trying to strike him with earth and ice-like icicles. The warlock, although clearly getting tired and fed up with the constantly keeping to defense, was relentless. "Not bad sweetheart. Put up a good fight but if you don’t mind, I’ll just be on my way. Barrier’s gotta go down sometime. Try to stop me if you can." The warlock grinned evilly as he saluted a goodbye, preparing to teleport. Reira’s eyes widened when the dark warlock mentioned the barrier and immediately her crimson orbs narrowed into a glare, a growl accompanied after. "Not on my watch!" She shouted charging towards him and then tackled the warlock just as he was in the middle of teleporting. Reira ended up teleporting alongside him.

Briefly noting their surroundings and realizing that they were inside AJ’s house, the witch immediately engaged in a protective mode intending on not letting him get anywhere near the kitchen. From what she could tell, the two landed in the upstairs hallway. Reflexively, the warlock pushed her off of him starting for the stairs but the witch was quick to retaliate and jumped onto his back –locking her arms around his neck to put him in a choke hold- which sent them both flying down the stairs. The Twilight girl took no notice of what happened nor was injured seeing as she was clinging to the warlock’s back although the same could not be said for him as displayed by his pained expression. Reira wasn’t quite done with him yet seeing as she proceeded to grab a fistful of his hair and slam his face repeatedly on the ground.

After bashing his head hard against the wooden floor, the warlock growled at her with annoyance. "You just won’t quit, will you? Fine then! I’m sure my fellow warlocks will be rid of that other bitch sooner or later. How’s about a meeting with my boss then?" He chuckled low and darkly. The witch glared at him intensely but said nothing or at least wasn’t able to say anything since the warlock already teleported the both of them.

Bonnie had been so preoccupied with hitting the warlock that she had forgotten about the other, who was starting to move somewhat behind her. She even put in a few kicks in the warlocks stomach when someone grabbed her throat and pulled her back. "Ajitere," Bonnie managed to choke and had moved her left palm over her right shoulder, but she didn't aim right so it was only hit his ear, but she was pulled back and fell on her tail bone, which wasn't very pleasant. She moaned a little. The warlock who had attacked her had been pulled away by the ear which caused in him screaming in pain as his ear was almost ripped off. When Bonnie finally got back up she took one furious look at the warlock who had attacked her and the next second a lightening hit the man, shaking him through like a leaf before he fell to the ground and with great force she pointed her palm at the other man which cause him to fly through the air towards where he came from. Bonnie hurried back to the house. "Reira!!!," she yelled as she stormed in, but no matter where she looked she couldn't find her friend. "REIRA!!!!!" she screamed and looked around in panic. This couldn't be, she hurried out of the house and with her followed the clouds that now looked like a literal storm, so with the wind whisking over her, rain falling, thunder and lightening she headed for the place from where the warlocks had come.

After the two landed, the warlock shoved Reira off his back thus in turn making her fall onto hers. She groaned from the impact before quickly getting onto her feet just like her opponent. Without a second to spare, the witch threw a roundhouse kick at the warlock to which of course he dodged by teleporting. As the two began another spar –once again using teleportation most of the time-, the crimson-eyed witch grew more and more frustrated. She didn’t even bother to take in the surroundings and see that the warlock had landed them in the field close by the farm house.

"Why! Won’t! You! Die!" Reira yelled in fury sending another punch his way only to make contact with the air. She was so furious, she didn’t bother teleporting out of the way. Instead, she turned to face the direction where the warlock appeared –purely on guess- and in the split second he was in her line of vision, intending on punching her in the face, she held out her hand wanting to use her elemental generation to manipulate his blood. The warlock stopped in his movement like she wanted and the moment she realized he was in her grasp, the witch slowly shaped her hand into a constricting motion. She wanted the blood to rush into his head. Although she didn’t stop, she found herself feeling strangely faint and the results of her ability on the warlock weren’t exactly what she was looking for despite it doing the job. It didn’t even feel like she was using her elemental generation at all. The warlock, she observed, looked as if he was being strangled matching the intensity as her hand was motioning.

Nevertheless, she didn’t question the scene. Knowing that he was at her mercy and seemed to not be able to teleport away, she decided to end his life once and for all… and make sure that he stays dead. With her free hand, she conjured a big block of earth and slowly stepped back away from the warlock while still keeping her hold on him. When she was a few feet away, she quickly brought the hand that was holding onto the warlock down which in retaliation made him fall down as well in perfect sync. Then with her other hand, she hovered the block over the warlock and sent him a glare where he looked at her with cold yet terrified eyes. Her face was expressionless. "Go to hell, bastard." She said quite calmly as she let the block fall forcefully down on the warlock.

Immediately after doing the deed, she fell down on her knees and brought a hand up to her suddenly bleeding nose. She wasn’t feeling too good and felt like she could faint at any moment. Slowly, looking up ahead where the block was she could see blood seeping under it, staining the grass crimson. Letting out a sigh –although it was quite difficult seeing as it was leaking blood-, Reira finally looked around her surroundings and took note of where she was. Looking over to where the closest part of the barrier was, a subtly cold chill crawled up her spine in seeing a figure just outside of the invisible shield. Was that the boss that the warlock was talking about? Luckily for her she was still safely inside barrier… Or was she?

In hearing "I am safe here, he won’t hurt me" inside her mind, it was strange. She felt like it wasn’t her at all who thought the idea yet at the same time she was quick to believe in it as displayed by the sigh of relief that followed. Fighting and killing the warlock took a lot out of her than she thought. Her eyes were blurring and hurting from having to constantly use her elemental ability plus she felt pretty awful –not to mention the nosebleed- from that last move she pulled.

As Reira looked towards the sky in the direction of the human area, she noticed storm clouds and the sounds of thunder approaching her way. She wondered what was causing it. The curiosity didn’t linger much as she began to heal herself using the water inside her body. Immediately, she felt somewhat refreshed despite some pain still lingering. Wiping what was left of her nosebleed, she stood up from where she knelt and slowly headed towards the vampire lingering outside the barrier stopping just a couple feet away from it.

Crossing her arms and jutting out a hip, she looked at him rather calmly with a subtle hint of disdain. "So which one are you? Laurent, I‘m guessing? If so, I got a bone to pick with you. You turned my sister into one of your kind and then you had the audacity to hurt my best friend?! No one messes with my family and friends." She said coolly. Reira recognized him from the photos that were shown at the meeting but wasn’t quite sure which Bodouar twin it was. She knew deep down that she should be extra cautious if this vampire did turn out to be Laurant seeing as that twin had mind control, but she couldn’t help but listen to the instilled idea in her head that she was safe behind the barrier.

Try as she might, Reira couldn’t resist listening to the voice in her head telling her "Go to him, it’s safe, he can’t hurt me." Her gut was reacting begging her not to listen but her mind was the one in control making her body move forward and unknowingly to her… into the danger zone. Right before crossing the barrier, her eyes noticed a figure approaching from the distance. She knew it didn’t matter which twin this was now… because the two brothers were both present.

Sucking in a quick breath of courage, Reira darted her eyes back on the one she was walking towards. "Bonnie James." She said with a firm cold voice. "That’s who my friend is you bastard." Right after she revealed which friend she was talking about, the Twilight witch had already stepped out of the barrier.

Something was definitely wrong. In her normal standards, she would have already started attacking the second she spotted Laurant –she guessed it was him- as well as the other twin but oddly out of the ordinary, she was perfectly calm except for that subtle alarming feeling that was signaling danger. Her mind ignored it blatantly and continued controlling her movements. She had stopped in her tracks as soon as she crossed out of the barrier so that she was standing right in front of the invisible wall.

A cool glare stared right at the twins, as she observed and listened to the two. Reira knew she should have been alarmed when the one she thought was Lestat eyed her hungrily and with no hesitation made to attack her but she remained as calm as ever. Her instincts were relieved when Lestat was thrown back away from her but that relief was short-lived when another nonsensical thought resonated in her mind. Her controlled mind was quick to obey, already going for her protection bag that hung as a necklace from around her neck and remained hidden beneath her shirt from wandering eyes, but this time her body was fighting back. She tried to be persistent but no matter how strong her will was, her mind was completely bent on doing as it was told.

When the protection bag was out in the open, she held it firmly in front of her shaking from the debate on whether to keep it or to drop it. "No..." The witch whispered as if talking could stop herself from doing the inevitable. In a split second, Reira’s hand let go of the protection bag; a light gasp escaping into the air as she watched it fall down to the ground in slow motion, almost taunting her.

Senseless thoughts were once again clouding her mind and this time they were keeping Reira from using her abilities. Fine then; if that’s how they were going to play, she would just have to make do with what she’s got. When Lestat went to attack her, she dodged out of the way barely escaping his blow. "Not even in your dreams, old man." She retorted back with a subtle hint of smugness and keeping to the defense. Being bold and cocky was probably the only thing keeping her sane. Reira knew at this point that she wasn’t going to win this fight but there was no way she was going to give up just that easily either. Even if her thoughts commanded her to do the deed, she was going to try to resist to the best of her ability, despite the unavoidable.

Reira narrowed her eyes and smirked. "Ah, touché. However, true I am just a mere human but that doesn’t matter when you’ve got a resolve. And mine is to fight you assholes until there’s not a drop of air left in these lungs. But I’m just wasting my breath since you probably find my words meaningless so I’ll just shut up now." As Lestat charged at her once more, the witch of course dodged with perfect precision. But despite having seen the dagger, she was one second too late in avoiding that little surprise and was dealt with a heavy stab to her side.

Immediately, her hands flew to the source of her pain as she rolled a few feet away and then got up kneeling on one knee. She grunted from her aching wound, and merely glared at the pouring blood that stained her hands. "Ju-just… a little scratch..." Reira grinned cheekily -with a brief stutter- at her vampire opponent although clearly the stab was more than just miniscule marked by the discomfort in her form. "That all you got?" She boldly –and quite stupidly- dared him, getting ready to dodge again or perhaps try to be offensive if she could.
