Carpe Noctum

Leona hadn't been sure about meeting up with Brody, especially after what she had promised Javier back in France, but when she heard it was about the Alliance and her family, she knew that she couldn't just sit and do nothing. So after she had told Javier that she would head out for an hour, she took her motorcycle and headed off into town. Even though Javier had asked where she was going, she had simply brushed him off. She parked her motorcycle a couple of warehouses down, looking around before she moved up to where she had promised to meet Brody. She entered the broken door and spotted Brody over by some crates. "Hey," she said, sending him a smile as she moved over to him. She had just been about to hug him, when she thought otherwise and just stood there. "So what do you have?" she asked and looked curiously at Brody.

Brody noticed the certain hesitation from Leona, but he simply looked at her before he pulled out a brown envelope and handed it to Leona. "Alastair has been spotted in town," he said and knew right away that he had caught her attention. He lowered his voice so only she could hear, just to be on the safe side. He didn't want anyone to listen in on what he had to say. "Now my reports say that he was meeting up with those twins and they are planning something that involves your family," he said quietly, briefly looked towards the broken door as he was pretty sure he had heard something outside. "I don't know what exactly they are planning, but you have to keep your eyes open," he said and looked back at Leona with a concerned expression on his face.

When Brody gave her the brown envelope she opened it and took out some pictures. They looked like they were taken in a hotel room, Alastair and the two Duboir twins. Just seeing them on a picture made her blood boil and she growled a little. "Well they can just try. I will rip their hearts out," she hissed. She looked through the pictures, but suddenly one popped into her eyes and she stared at it in shock. "Oh my god. Look," she said and moved closer to Brody and showed him the picture. She looked at him and they shared a mutual shocked expression. "How am I going to tell the others about this," she said and shook her head and when she felt Brody rub her back a little she sent him a sad smile. Lizzie had clearly returned to the Rose Alliance, after all why would she be on one of the pictures.

Brody let out a sigh and looked back down at the pic that Leona had shown him. He didn't know Lizzie personally, but he had seen pictures of her. "I can try and keep a tap on her, but with her abilities it's hard to keep a track on her," he said and jumped off the crate. Standing close to Leona he pulled a card up from his pocket and handed it to Leona, who took it. "This is a guy in London. Contact him, I doubt Alastair will stay in the country for too long," he said, leaning slightly closer so he could whisper into her ear. "Apparently he's currently residing in London. He's been moving around a lot lately. That attack on the Head Lady's sister last month. It's only the beginning," he whispered.

Leona leaned up against the crates, her face fell a little. "But why now? Why not two years ago or later than that. I mean" she said and made a slight arm gesture. She shook her head a little, rubbing her temple a little. "Not to mention that Lizzie is in all this again. I really don't want to hurt her, she's my sister, but....I don't know. It's all so messed up," she said and let out a heavy sigh, shaking her head a little. As Brody moved so he stood in front of her, she leaned forward and rested her head against his chest for a moment and Brody had barely put his arms around her before she moved away from him. "Well thanks for these," she said and started to put the pictures back into the envelope.

Leona turned her head when she suddenly heard Javier's voice. Her heart sank and as he stormed out, she hurried after him. Leaving Brody behind. "Javier!" she yelled, managing to grab his arm just before he reached his motorcycle. "It's not what you think, please, just let me explain," she said and forced herself to stand in front of him. She still had the envelope in her hand. She looked begging at him, hoping that he at least would listen to her for a second, why did he have to follow, why couldn't he just have stayed at home and she could have told him that someone had given her the pictures and she didn't have to mention a name. After all this was her job, to keep the town safe.

Leona wanted to call after him as he just drove past her, but instead she just looked lost. She looked down at the brown envelope in her hand, she had a lump in her throat, but then she hurried over to her own motorcycle, jumping on it after she had managed to stuff the envelope into her innerpocket and had put on her helmet, she raced after him. She was not giving up, maybe she should have told him, but then he wouldn't have let her go. She was sure of it. Why couldn't he just listen to her, why did he have to act like that.

Leona drove as fast as she could. Arriving to the chateau, she ran up the stairs and shortly after she burst into the bedroom, she noticed the bag on the bed and then looked towards Javier with wide eyes. "Javier, you have to listen to me. If I had told you where I was going you would never have let me go and then...." she said and moved over to him, unzipping her jacket and pulled out the envelope. Taking out the pictures she had gotten from Brody. "Look! This is why I met with him. Alastair has had a meeting with your fledglings. They are planning something. And look," she said and found the picture with her sister. "Lizzie," she said, crouching down before him. "He said that according to his informer, then they are plotting against us. They are trying to find a way to get close to us," she said. "If I didn't think it was important, I would never have met with him. You have to believe that, but this is important. I don't want the Alliance to ruin our family," she said as she looked at him with a begging expression. Hoping that he would calm down.

Leona looked after him as he got up, but then she had enough and she got back on her feet as well. "Well I'm sorry. I can't do anything right around you. I did what I thought was best at the time okay. So spare me the lecture, I didn't want to meet with him, but when he told me that in concerned my family, I gives a rats ass about your feelings," she yelled, throwing the photos on the bed so the scattered all over the place. "Or is that wrong too. I might not show much caring about the family, but when I finally do then that's wrong too. You have to start looking at this in perspective, cause I can't live like this. If I have to worry if you'll blow up if I do this or that. I'm trying to do what's best, to keep this family safe, to keep the town safe. That's my job," she said, her voice still very much raised. "I have to be able to do my job right and that means I have to do things that none of us likes," she said, shaking her head a little as she looked up towards the ceiling. "You need to let me do my job," she said in a low voice and sat heavily on the edge of the bed. Right now she had no clue what to do, it was like Javier was starting to become a bit of an obstacle, she knew he meant well most of the time, but now she was starting to wonder.

Leona looked up at him when he mentioned his fledglings. "I am not being cosy with Brody. He's my friend and he can get information that's useful. So don't try and think that it's the same with you and the twins," she said in a slight hurtful tone before she looked down at her hands. But when he talked about loosing her, she turned her head and looked at him. "Well getting hurt is part of being a Head Bellator. Look...," she said, but stopped and looked down a little. "I'm good at this, this is who I am," she said and got up and moved over to the window, looking out at the darkness, the hint of the moon showing from time to time on the night sky when a crack in the clouds appeared. "I know you worry, but I'm a good fighter, and I know that the last couple of months have been hectic, but it's not that often I actually do get injured," she said, moving over to him and knelt down before him and rested her hands on his knees as she looked up at him. "It's just I get this feeling that you don't really approve of me being Head Bellator. But I need your full support or I can't see how we'll ever be able to make this work. I love you, sooo much, but you're smothering me sometimes," she said before she looked to her hands on his knees.

Leona looked up at him. "Then you have to let me do my job," she said. Of course it wasn't just Javier who had to change a little, she had too. She had to let Javier more into what she was doing. Not running off, but tell her where she's going. Merely as a precaution. Looking down at their hands she let out a slight sigh. "I know for sure that I wouldn't be able to carry on if you're not in my life," she said and stood up on her knees as she looked back at Javier, moving a hand up to his cheek, gently stroking her thumbs over his cheek. "What you and me have, I don't want to loose that. No matter how often we fight," she said in a hushed voice.
