Ever since Artemys helped Sumdyl with that new ability of his, she hadn’t exactly been feeling top notch. It was already a few days after the little episode and yet the pounding headaches never ceased for even a moment. She was already being reminded of when migraines were a common thing for her and it puzzled her how she was able to stand the likes of them for so many years. The annoying pain made her feel horrendously cranky so she felt it best to keep herself over at the castle at least until the headaches went away. How long that would take was unknown. Plus, she’d rather not anyone see her like this…vulnerable… or at least that’s what she thought.

At the moment her tightly shut eyes were a grayish color –a side effect of using her projection- indicating her tiredness. Beforehand they were lingering between white when she was frustrated and brown when she was restless. She hadn’t gotten much sleep either so exhaustion was overwhelming her as well. A light sigh escaped her as her orbs steadily opened and struggled somewhat to stare out the open balcony. She was currently curled up under the covers of her bed; her back was to the door. It wasn’t long before she closed her eyes again and once again tried to get that sleep she so desperately needed. She hated feeling like this but did she regret it? Not in the least seeing as she helped someone out because of it… even if it was at her own expense. All she could do right now was bear it and hopefully the pain would go away sooner or later.

Lenard hadn't seen Artemys for what seemed days, and since he hadn't heard from her, he was wondering what she was doing? He had tried to call, but had simply caught the voice mail, so instead of sitting around doing nothing he decided to head out to the castle, where Artemys usually stayed. He hadn't been there since that day where he had run into Celia.

He headed up the stairs to the floor where he knew her room was. He looked up and down the hallway before he knocked on the door. "Art? It's me," he said through the door. This was quite new to him, actually knocking and waiting for an answer before he entered someone's room.

Artemys’ eyes shot open to reveal amber-green irises when she heard a knock at the door followed by Lenard’s voice. As she struggled to get up into a sitting position, she brought a hand up to her head as if to relieve the dizziness that was suddenly clouding her mind. The first question that popped up was why he was there until she realized how dumb it sounded. If she was in his position and she hadn’t heard from her boyfriend for days then she most certainly would go out on a limb to see him. Still… for some reason she was feeling a little nervous which wasn’t helping her migraines any better.

Contemplating on what to do, she sighed heavily before removing the covers off of her and very slowly making her way to the door. Her head felt like it was spinning as she did so. It was like the headaches were getting worse with each step she took; perhaps getting out of bed was a bad idea. Just as she went to grab hold of the door knob, she had to pause for a moment as she winced from a sudden throb. Immediately she let out a frustrated growl before bringing a hand up to her forehead and rubbed her temples. It was then that she finally opened the door although partially. She didn’t look at Lenard right away but when she did so she merely made eye contact briefly with her now white eyes from behind her hand. "Hey… Sorry I have not called or visited lately... Haven’t been feeling well." She quietly said before opening the door all the way. "Please come in…." Artemys then headed back for the bed although this time she just sat on the edge. She then bent forward a little and hid her face in her hands as she let out a long deep sigh.

Lenard was starting to think she wasn't in there or something had happened and she couldn't respond when the door finally opened, she looked pale and not her usual self. Lenard walked in and closed the door before he moved over and sat down next to her, placing a hand on her back and gently rubbed it. "What happened?" he asked in a quiet voice. He didn't dare use his empathy right now in fear that he would be thrown back by strong emotions. He moved some of her hair away, so he could better see her, even though she had hidden her face in her hands.

Artemys didn’t answer right away but when she finally did, she removed her hands away from her face and wrapped her arms around her stomach. Her eyes had changed back to gray and simply stared down at the floor. "Reira’s apprentice… well, he’s a friend of Celia’s too… he discovered some new ability a while ago and he was not able to control it. Although my sister is his mentor she could not be of help to him… Apparently she figured since I have immunity over illusions and those sorts of things that I would be more useful and sent me over to help him." She explained softly. Feeling another migraine made her grimace and lean more towards Lenard. She stayed quiet for a few moments before continuing. "I’m just feeling side effects is all… Migraines… my old enemy…" She mumbled unhappily before looking up so that she made eye contact with Lenard. Her eyes were still a grayish color but slowly transitioned to amber. "And apparently my eyes keep changing colors… think it’s to my mood or something." One would think having ‘mood eyes’ would be cool but she thought otherwise… She felt odd not to mention it allowed others to know how she was feeling… which counteracted with her Perspicuity seeing as it kept others from knowing her thoughts, feelings and the likes. It made her uncomfortable to say the least.

Lenard put his arm around her shoulder and let her rest against his shoulder while he gently stroke his thumb over her cheek. "I've never really used my empathy for that advanced, but if you want I could try and sooth it a bit, I mean what's in that pretty head of yours," he said and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. He wanted to help in any way he could, he just wasn't sure if he could. He didn't use his empathy very often, mainly because if it was too much he used it, he wanted to kill himself and it probably wasn't the best thing to want that when you were around your girlfriend and he had no intentions of telling her the downsides of his ability either.

Artemys had to say she was feeling a little bit better with Lenard around. She looked thoughtful for a moment when he offered to ease her migraines and hearing his last comment made even a tiny smile appear upon her lips. It made her think though…. She was able to uplift her ability if she wanted to…. Thing was that she had never done so before. If she did just that right now then Lenard would be the first to get a glimpse of what her ability’s been keeping from everyone… her mind. "As tempting as that sounds then I have to decline… You could say I’ve grown used to it after having to bear it for so many years…" She quietly said as she wrapped her arms around his waist. When she looked up at him with blue eyes, there was a tired grin creasing her lips. "When I get better... if you want, I can uplift my ability just for you… Let you in on what’s going on in my ‘pretty head.’" She chuckled a little but really she was being serious. "I haven’t actually attempted to do that before or for anyone so you should feel privileged I am even offering." Artemys coyly smiled.

Lenard kept brushing a thumb over her cheek as he looked into her now blue eyes. He kissed her forehead. "You don't have to if you don't want to, but if you do, I will be honoured. I usually doesn't use my empathy very often, at least for too long at the time," he said and looked back at her. Taking in every inch of her features before he placed a soft kiss on her lips. "You should get some rest, do you want me to stay?" he asked, if she wanted him to leave he would and if she wanted him to stay then he wouldn't mind staying, what ever she wanted, he would do.

Even though the migraines weren’t letting up at all, Lenard’s presence and touch alone was distracting her from it which in a sense was making her feel even a little better. When he told her to get some rest and if she wanted him to stay, she looked thoughtful. "Of course I want you to stay. If you don’t mind that is… Think you being here is making me feel much better." She smiled before narrowing her eyes a little and looking away. "Not sure I will be getting any rest though. I have been attempting to do so for the past few days and still nothing… I am very tired and exhausted though." Artemys sighed a little sadly as her eyes changed to amber.

Of course Lenard being Lenard, he just couldn't help himself. Sure it was Artemys, but when it came down to it, then he was a guy and he was pretty sure he had the perfect cure for her not falling asleep. "Well, I could think of one thing that could take your mind off things," he said and moved away her hair so he could kiss her neck. Okay so now wasn't the perfect timing of getting frisky, but he was Lenard and secondly that was his way of getting his mind to relax and he kind of expected her to push him off at some point, but for now he would give it a shot.

Lenard placed his hand on her thigh and slowly started to move it up as he placed light kisses against her neck, pushing the strap on the nightgown down and moved his lips over her shoulder. "Trust me, you'll relax afterwards," he whispered when he returned to the spot right below the ear. He leaned forward, forcing her to lie down and found her lips, kissing her passionately as his hands moved up the side of her body, loving the smooth fabric under his fingers. Any time he expected her to break it off and tell him that it wasn't the time or place and that she definitely wasn't in the mood.

Artemys was most definitely not in the mood. She however didn’t say anything on the matter when he started to kiss her neck. Even though she wasn’t looking at him then she had rolled her now white eyes (frustrated) and let out an annoyed sigh. "Honestly…" She grumbled as she briefly observed his movements before craning her head up and closing her eyes as she felt another migraine; a sharp quick intake of breath indicated so. She did have to admit though that Lenard was already starting to ‘take her mind off things’ as she tried to relax from his touch. The feeling of his hand brushing up her thigh not to mention his kisses was driving her nuts. "Mmm…" She sounded almost inaudibly as her fingers somehow entangled themselves in his hair. A shiver ran down her spine as he whispered in her ear and before she could say or do anything she suddenly found herself lying on her back and in a heated kiss with Lenard. She immediately kissed back and groaned in their kiss loving the feeling of his hands moving up her body.

Although the pain was still lingering, then the pleasure was making it somewhat more bearable. She however for whatever reason did in fact break their kiss by placing her palms against his shoulder and pushing him off inches away from her. She eyed him momentarily with amber eyes again (uncertain) feeling a little hesitant. After giving the thought a few minutes, she let out a small sigh before a small smile appeared upon her lips and her eyes had went back to blue (at ease). "Fine then… I will trust you…" She said. If this didn’t make her fall asleep then she didn’t know what would. Casually she pulled her hands back and rested them above her hand as she shifted her body a little to get herself comfortable. She grimaced as she did so though feeling her head pounding. Artemys shut her eyes and turned her head; a low whimper escaped her making her bite her lip. She didn't like feeling or acting so 'weak' especially with Lenard right there.

Lenard looked aprehensive at her when she pushed him away a little, but when she shortly after made herself comfortable, a slight cheer sounded in his head. He moved over her again and started to press light kisses against her skin. Making sure the touch was minimal, so the nerves right under her skin would be activated and send signals to her brain. Again he moved his hands delicately down the side of her body until he reached the bottom of her nightgown and slowly started to push it up, barely touching her skin. Lenard knew how to set things in motion when it came to women, Artemys was far from the first he had been with. He moved down a little and started to press light kisses on her stomach as the skin was revealed, now and again nipping the skin to send shock waves to her brain. It was all down to the touches, in other words he was stimulating Artemys' mind into think about other things and get the pheromones to ease her headache so to speak.

Artemys still hadn't opened her eyes just yet so she was merely 'feeling' the things that Lenard was doing to her while at the same time trying to avoid focusing on the pains from her migraine. Soft gasps and light breaths would escape her while winces were sounded every now and then. It was strange to her how she was feeling so stimulated even though his touch was scarce and it was actually making it easier for her to 'almost' forget that she was even in pain although the throbs always came back to remind her. Her back arched very slightly when he started to kiss and nip the skin upon her stomach region. Lenard slowly moved up her body as he pushed the nightgown further and further up, in the end taking it off her. His lips met hers shortly after in an intense kiss as his hands moved down the side of her body. He started to trail his kisses down her neck and started to move down her body again, still with light kisses. He sat up and took one of her legs and placed it on his shoulder as he slowly moved a finger on the inside of her thigh followed up with light kisses again, doing the same with the other leg as well. Before he moved over her, placing her hands on either side of her head and as he kissed her, he sent all his warm and very lustful emotions over to her, not sure if she would get them or not. Positive emotion were better than bad he thought, he moved his body slightly against hers as the kiss got more and more intense. Right now he had a hard time controlling himself, but he wanted it to be done right and not rush things. He briefly broke of the kiss so he could pull off his shirt.

Even though Lenard had already 'seen' her, Artemys still felt a little modest when he pulled off her nightgown. The thought was pushed to the back of her mind though when her lips were caught in another intense kiss which she would always return back -although not as completely as she wanted to because of her migraines- and when he started to trail kisses pretty much all over her body she thought she was going to explode. She was a little taken back when he planted her hands on both sides of her head and once again kissed very passionately. For some reason she was feeling something odd going on with her mind. It wasn’t migraines per say but she did feel like something was trying to get through to her. She wasn’t sure if she should allow it to penetrate the barrier preventing anything from getting to her head but after a few seconds of consideration, she decided to just let it. A burst of emotions overwhelmed her immediately both warm and rather lustful…

When Lenard broke their kiss to pull his shirt off, Artemys looked at him with an unreadable expression and gray eyes letting the emotions sink in momentarily. The moment he took his shirt off, without warning she pulled him towards her rather forcefully and kissed him fiercely. She then flipped them over so that she was on top and straddling him before breaking the kiss. Red-brown eyes mischievously stared back into his while she sent him a sly grin. The migraine pains were still pretty much there but she was practically ignoring them at the moment. "Was that ‘really’ a wise idea?" She asked with a low chuckle referring to how he projected his emotions over to her, well... more so the lustful ones. Tilting her head slightly still keeping that grin, she took his face into her hands and gave Lenard another heated kiss. Her hands then ‘discreetly’ trailed down to his shoulders down his chest and before anyone knew it, she was undoing his pants.

If things were going to end up like this with Lenard every time she had a migraine or headache then she would actually be looking forward to them at this point. Even after their very intense session though, the throbbing headaches returned back but during it all it was like she was never in pain at all. Lenard chuckled and placed a kiss on her temple. "Call me whenever you want. And it doesn't have to be because you feel poorly," he whispered in her ear before he kissed her right below the ear and nuzzled into her a little. He had never imagined he would feel like this towards another woman, although he had pretty much watched her grown up, of course something she didn't know, but he had been watching her and her siblings for a very long time. He had done things he wasn't proud of, but he had to or he just might not have been lying right here with Artemys because Alastair would have finished him off a long time ago. Lenard turned quiet as his thoughts went down memory lane, he had killed a lot of people over the last centuries and now he could feel their ghosts starting to haunt him, maybe it was because he finally had stopped and started to reflect over the things he had done.

Artemys was quite surprised by what Lenard said… in a good way though. It was just that she was expecting an answer more along the lines of playful. Nonetheless it sent the butterflies fluttering again and a warm smile to crease her lips even though he couldn’t see it. "Okay…" She simply replied before letting out a light giggle as she felt him kiss the spot below her ear and nuzzle her. A relaxed sigh breathed out from her lips as she shut her orbs and eased into Lenard’s hold. It was comforting to say the least not to mention she felt safe there wrapped in his arms.

As the time passed, her breathing became more rhythmic and she might as well have fallen asleep already… but something was bothering her… the silence perhaps. And even though she wasn’t directly looking at Lenard then she could sense something was a little off. "Something on your mind?" She asked quietly not really sure if something was wrong but it didn’t hurt to ask. Her eyes were half open at the moment. Sure she was sleepy and it would really help her headache if she got the sleep she needed but her concern for Lenard came first.

Lenard had been miles away when Artemys when she spoke and he didn't answer right away. "What? No, it's nothing. Just go to sleep," he said and kissed her temple again before he rested his head next to hers, nuzzling into the back of her head, taking in her scent, he started to feel a bit guilty about what he had done to Artemys' family. A feeling he hadn't felt very often, mainly because he had shut off that part. He couldn't go soft and yet here he was, he had fallen for one of his victims. He closed his eyes but all he saw were the people he had killed over the last centuries and it hadn't been a few. His embrace tightened a bit as if he wanted to make sure Artemys was still there, maybe it had been wrong to start a relationship with her.

Artemys slightly frowned at what Lenard said simply because she could tell that he was lying. Still she had a feeling he didn’t want to talk about it so rather than be persistent in badgering him into spitting out whatever was bothering him she stayed silent on the matter. "You know you can talk to me… if you ever need someone to listen, okay…" She said in a soft, quiet voice hoping that would reassure him. Feeling his grip around her tighten more wasn’t helping much though. It made her a little concerned. Gently she pressed her lips against his arm that was wound around her before lightly rubbing the same area with her hand as if to comfort him."If you sleep then I will sleep." Right now she was anything but sleepy... well unless he somehow convinced her nothing was wrong.

Lenard kissed her neck and nuzzled into her a little. "Just sleep okay and don't try and get stubborn about it," he said and smiled against her skin. He tightened his embrace a little, but none the less he closed his eyes and even though he hadn't been that tired he fell into a restless sleep. Alastair and Artemys was in his dream and then her aunt. Eventually he woke up with a gasp and sat up, he had never had these dreams before. Maybe it was because he was seeing Artemys, the stuff he had done to her family without her knowledge. He feared what would happen it he came clean with her, what if she thought that him getting involved with her was planned beforehand that he hadn't left the alliance after all.

Artemys couldn’t help but smile a little widely at what Lenard said and as much as she’d love to push his buttons then she didn’t exactly want to ‘ruin the moment’ so she restrained herself from the temptation. "Mhmm…" Was her reply as she relaxed into his embrace although her eyes remained opened for a little while longer. She wanted to make sure he went to sleep and eventually he did. A warm smile formed before she kissed his arm again and slowly closed her orbs as she got comfortable and her breathing more rhythmic. "Aishiteru…" She whispered softly before drifting to sleep. Perhaps it was too soon to say such a thing…even so just saying it felt so right for some reason…of course, she would never say it directly to Lenard and even if he heard it then she wouldn’t tell him what it meant….at least at this point where their relationship had barely just started.

He wasn’t the only one having dreams… or in Artemys’ case…nightmare. It wasn’t the first time though… she had had the same exact one for a while now ever since that incident with Lacie… she just never remembered what exactly happened as soon as she woke up or she’d rather not. Her nightmare was basically reliving the night her aunt was killed although she only knew it as just that… a nightmare. In real life she was crying in her sleep and mumbling things here and there like ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘my fault’. It got to the point in her nightmare that she was screaming and sure enough she was doing the same thing in real life.

Lenard had been in his own bewildred thoughts and hadn't noticed Artemys wasn't in a restful sleep, but when a sudden scream came from her, he turned his head and leaned over her taking her face between his hands. "Artemys!?!" he said before he took her in his arms and held her closely cradling her. "It's okay sweetie," he said, hoping that it would help her, not sure what else to do. He kissed her cheek as he kept cradling her and whispered in her ear that everything was okay. Even if he had the chance to change dreams he wouldn't have been able to enter Artemys', so he felt helpless. Hadn't he already done enough wrong to this girl?

Artemys wasn’t aware of anything that was going on even when Lenard was trying to comfort her. She was lost in her own world. Even though her eyes were closed then all she could see was her aunt Koneko… dead… lifeless…drained… All because of her… That’s what she believed anyways ever since. How could she do that to her own aunt? And not only that but her last words to her was that she hated her…

Eventually she woke up but anything of that nightmare was wiped clean from her mind just like the other times. Her eyes had shot wide and she was breathing heavily… not to mention she was still pretty much hysterically crying. As soon as she noticed that Lenard was holding her then she proceeded to bury her face in his chest wrapping her arms around him in the process and continued to cry. In time she calmed down a little… her crying reduced to sniffles. "I keep having this nightmare…. But when I wake up I can never remember what happened in it… why…." She said in a somewhat sad and confused manner.

Lenard simply held her closely and let her cry as he stroke her hair gently, kissing the top of her head now and again. When she finally spoke, he didn't really know what to say. "Maybe it's so bad you don't want to remember. Maybe you let yourself forget the dream," he said, he wasn't exactly an expert into the dream world, he could alter people's memory, change their emotions and track someone down with an instance, but that was pretty much it. He knew his sister's husband could mess with people's dreams, but he wasn't sure he should suggest Artemys to talk to Javier. Maybe it was just best if she let it be.

"Maybe…" Artemys sniffled in a quiet voice. Whatever it was she was curious about it but not so much that she’d do anything to find out what exactly was going on in her dream. Perhaps it was just best to not do anything about it although if this whole thing kept occurring then she didn’t know what to think. She sighed a little as she snuggled closer into Lenard, wiping her tears in the process. "I’m just glad you are here to keep me company..." Briefly she looked up at him to send him a tiny yet warming smile before closing her eyes and resting her head against his chest. "You must be doing something to me… I always feel much better and safe with you around." Well now that they were dating at least. She practically loathed him when they first met and now here she was going to him of all people for comfort.

Lenard chuckled a little as he ran a finger up and down her spine, he kissed the top of her head. "Well I'm here for you when ever you need me," he said quietly as he slowly got lost in thoughts. Maybe he should tell her, how he had seen her back then, how he had kept an eye on her, how he had tried to kidnap her only to regret it, how her aunt had caught him and how he had killed the woman. Didn't she have the right to know? He had lived long enough to know that the past always ended up haunting you. "I know I've done things in the past, most of it was not something I wanted to do, but because I was ordered to. Turning Celia was one of them, I wish she had never ended up in the Rose Alliance, but Alastair had his eyes on her family. I turned another woman back in 92, but I couldn't let her turn bad, so I let her go. Alastair wasn't happy when I returned, but he forgave me, then when he told me years later that this girl was coming to Scotland to study, he told me to befriend her. I did what he told me to, then he told me to turn her and bring her back, if I didn't he would kill me, so I did what I was told," he said quietly, looking up at the ceiling.

Artemys silently smiled when she heard him say that he would be there for her when she needed him… Goodness, she never thought hearing such words would ever make her feel happy. The idea of never needing anyone had stuck to her growing up but she realized that that wasn’t the case now…the more time she spent with Lenard…then she had become accustomed to needing him. Was this making her weak? As he talked about his past, she kept her eyes down on his chest and lightly traced the tips of her fingers over the scars. It sent mixed feelings inside her just seeing them….sorrow that he had to endure such torture…and then anger for the ones who did this to him. She wondered how she would cope if she ever was tortured…would she have the will to live or give up in despair?

"Gracious…. I was just born that year….1992… Think it would be odd if you saw me when I was younger." She very lightly chuckled not realizing that Lenard had actually seen her in her younger years. "I’m not sure if you or anyone’s noticed…but I was turned when I was 5….I don’t remember when it happened… I mean Leona was the one who told me that it was Laurant who did it… It never occurred to me until I got older that I or even Serena was supposed to not be aging…and the reason for why it happened? I still have yet to know." She sighed a little just letting her hand rest flat on his chest before looking up at him with a little smile. "But with what you told me…and what I just said to you… everything happens for a reason…right?" She knew that there was not a single person in the world that was perfect and that even those who were good may have come from a bad past…horrible even… The only thing to do was to forgive, learn and move on.

Lenard looked down at Artemys as she looked up at him, maybe he should just go ahead and tell her. He looked away from those eyes of hers for a moment. It was clear that he had something on his mind, he cleared his throat a little. "I know everything about you Artemys, I know when you were turned, and I watched you grow up," he said and looked back at her. There was a sad smile on his face as if that would ease everything a bit. "I had to keep an eye on you and I was suppose to kidnap you at some point, but......I couldn't go through with it. I suppose you don't remember if you had you wouldn't be lying here, you would have tried to kill me already," he said and tore his eyes away from her.

Artemys looked thoughtful when Lenard looked away from her. Was it something she said? Hearing what he said next… did she even hear him right? "What… did you say…." She said more than asked with eyes widened in disbelief. He already knew about her? Watched her grow up? No reaction came from her with that sad smile of his…. All she could do was look at him. Then when he continued on with his explanation it was if her unconscious was slowly making her pull away from him, her hand grabbing the sheet instead to cover herself up and before she knew it she was standing beside the bed staring down at Lenard with unexpressionless eyes. "Why would I try to kill you… And when exactly did this happen?" She questioned in a quiet voice although she wasn’t sure she even wanted to know.Thinking back to her past, she couldn’t remember ever seeing Lenard…. She remembered it was her aunt that had taken to watching her and Serena after their parents had went off to god knows where…and then… then…. What did happen to Aunt Koneko? That migraine was coming back again but she ignored it…she had to hear what Lenard had to say…she needed to know if things were ever going to be okay between them after this.

As Artemys moved off the bed, he pulled a sheet over him as well and sat up. Looking at her for a moment, he let out a slight sigh. "Alastair told me to keep an eye on you and when the time was right I should kidnap you. You couldn't be more than 11 years old, you had a fight with your aunt and you wandered off. Anyway, when I finally had to do it, I chickened out, you were so innocent and I ended up knocking you unconscious and that was when your aunt showed up. She jumped to conclusions and one thing lead to another and I ended up killing her before I took off," he said and kept his eyes on her. Ready to take what ever blow there might come.

Artemys listened to every word Lenard spoke…and as he spoke each one then she knew she wasn’t going to like what the ending of it was. Slowly she was backing herself up until she was against the wall…she stared at him with no expression upon her face when he finally revealed what it was… He had killed her aunt… The information hadn’t sunk in just yet though or rather she didn’t want it to be true. Thinking back to when she was 11 then she could remember what a horrible kid she was but now years later as she thought about it probably the reason why she acted as so was so that her parents would come back… Even if she didn’t show it then she still loved her Aunt very much but mom and dad she missed terribly.

Trying to recollect what Lenard had said, her head was hurting more and more by the minute as she became frustrated. "You are lying…. You have to be….. you have….to…." And then just like that….she did remember that night but not in the way he had said. It was all coming back to her… the events of that night. "Oh my God…. What have I done…" She said to herself in horror bringing her hand to cover her mouth as she slid her back down the wall until she was kneeling on the floor. Her mind wasn’t regarding what Lenard had told her….. right now she was reliving that forgotten memory. "Neko? Wake up… why won’t you wake up?" Her eyes were wide, teary and regretful as they stared off at nothing. "I’m sorry… I’m sorry…… I’M SORRRRRRY!!!!!" She cried out hysterically and started to cry into her hands. Everything had come back now… seeing her aunt dead right in front of her when she awoke….. rushing her to the hospital…. her dad showing up with Serena… "I killed her daddy… I killed Neko… I’m sorry…. I didn’t mean to….I’m sorry…" She kept repeating in sobs. What happened after that was a blur….she didn’t remember her dad being around anymore but she could recall having thereapy for awhile… the reason for why she hated hospitals.

Lenard just looked at Artemys as she pretty much collapsed and as she started to talk, he grabbed for his boxers and put them on before he rushed over to her. Kneeling down before her, he grabbed her by the shoulders shaking her a little as if to pull her out of what ever it was. "No Artemys, you didn't do anything, do you hear me. You are innocent, you will always be innocent," he said and placed his hands on each of her cheeks and made her look at him, not sure if she could hear him or not. "I'm sorry what I did to you and to your family, but everything just went wrong. I didn't mean to kill your aunt, I really didn't," he said with sorrow in his eyes and there actually was a remorse expression on his face.

Hearing Lenard’s voice had somewhat pulled her back to reality. Artemys was staring blankly into his sad, regretful eyes. She didn’t actually feel for them. Slowly she became angry….and it was apparent with the look on her face as she now glared at him with a dark expression. What she did next was probably something she had never done before. She slapped him hard across the face. Then without warning, she had Lenard’s back on the floor with her hand wrapped tightly around his throat as she herself straddled him on top. A cold expression was how she looked at him and yet there was a touch of hurt to them…not to mention she was still crying pretty much. "Do you…have any idea…what I’ve been through after that night?" She quietly said. "I wanted to die…. Even though I didn’t remember then I had always felt pain and regret every waking moment…. If it wasn’t for Serena then I surely wouldn’t be here right now….. How could you?...." She said in a mixture of sadness and anger. Artemys kept quiet for a moment simply staring down at Lenard with almost hateful eyes before tightening the grip she had on his throat. "Give me one good reason I shouldn’t end you right now…."

Lenard didn't fight back, he simply let Artemys slap him and push him on to the floor. He just looked up at her with a sad expression on his face and in his eyes, he couldn't say or do anything that would make it better. He couldn't speak when she asked for one good reason not to end him, not because he didn't want to but because she was pushing against his vocal cord and he couldn't get a sound out, so instead he simply mimed it with his lips....I love you..... Sure it might be the best excuse, but he did, maybe he had from that day where he first lied his eyes on her, maybe love wasn't the best word, but there had been something about her. And that was when it hit him, her eyes. She had looked into his eyes that day when he grabbed her, but it had been in fear, but there had been something behind that captivated him and it was the same thing now. It was her soul, her beautiful and captivating soul that had reached out to him. So he simply looked past the anger that glowed from her eyes and saw that amazing soul of hers.

Artemys froze in shock when she ‘saw’ what Lenard had said. Did she see that right? Did he actually say those three words… to her? Almost immediately her hand had released its hold on Lenard’s throat. She didn’t say anything at first.. what was there to say in a situation like this? Leaning back so that she sat up, she gently placed her hands on his chest and stared down at him…speechless. Locking eyes with him, there was a doubtful expression upon her features wondering if he really had said that. "What… did you say?" She asked although she pretty much already knew what had been said. Perhaps she wanted to hear it out.

As Artemys released her grip on his throat he still didn't move, but simply looked up at her. "I love you," he said, before he sat up, not once taking his eyes off her. He placed his hand on her cheek, gently brushing his thumb on the soft skin as he kept his eyes locked with hers. "I understand if you don't want anything to do with me after this, but I'll still love you and I will always look out for you," he said as he kept looking into those amazing eyes of hers. For some reason he had seen it as a mission to look out for this woman, who knew maybe there was a reason for him to meet her when she was a child and in hope that she wouldn't push him away he slowly met her lips in the most gentle kiss he could pull.

Artemys just continued staring at Lenard with doubtful, hesitant eyes while a small frown creased her lips. She was skeptical to say the least.. even though she may have had feelings of the same for him then she doubted his for her. Why would he or anyone love her of all people? She didn’t get it… didn’t see herself any different or special. No reaction was met when he went to brush her cheek with his thumb nor when he kissed her. As much she wanted to kiss him back… well she almost did but before going through with it she pulled herself back… she felt at a loss for words.

She didn’t say anything at first but simply look at him as she pulled up the sheet covering her and slowly got off of him, moving backwards until she was standing before Lenard and looking down at him with a confused expression. "Why?..." She asked quietly in disbelief. "And why me? What makes me different from every other woman out there? Even Aine…did you not ‘love’ her too not so long ago?" That last part dripping with a slight touch of coldness. It didn’t mean to turn out that way but she really was thinking that he was just toying with her even though she really had no reason to think that way. So many things were racing through her mind at the moment. What if he was just ‘in love’ with her because of her title…. Aine was Head Lady as well come to think of it…. Ha... and if Aine had returned his feelings then Artemys highly doubted they would be in this situation right now.... Or he could be tricking her… maybe he was still with the alliance for all she cares. Maybe it was just her then…. Maybe she was afraid having someone love her…afraid what would happen afterwards. She was getting a headache just thinking about it all….

"If you love me… then prove it." Mere words weren’t enough for her and that kiss to be honest wasn’t either. She didn’t know in what way she wanted him to prove his love but she just needed some other way to believe him… because right now she wasn’t convinced.

How on earth was he suppose to answer her, when he didn't know himself why she was special, why he loved her. When she brought up Aine, he looked at her. "That was different. She was....I don't know, they way she could get me worked up, her attitude, I don't know, it was just different. With you...," he said, but didn't really know where to go from there. "I can't explain what it is about you, there's something about you that makes me calm," he said and shrugged his shoulders a little. He had never been great at this and then suddenly have to explain himself, well that was even worse, but as she asked him to prove that he loved her, he stared at her for a very long time, how on earth could he prove it. Then out of the blue he cupped her face and looked into her eyes, his eyes were warm. "If you want to feel what I'm feeling, you have to open up, cause there is nothing that I can say or do to prove it to you," he said and took her hand and placed it over his dead heart. "You have to open up to me," he whispered, as his lips moved closer to hers before he gave the slowest and most intense kiss as he let his feelings for Artemys surround her. If his heart had been beating it would have been raced, he felt like he could fly at that precise moment. He was putting himself out there, but if Artemys wasn't prepared to open up to what he tried to send to her, then what else was he suppose to do? Right in that second he would do anything to keep Artemys safe, he wanted to protect her, hold her, comfort her and as he ended the kiss he wrapped his arms around her. "I love you Artemys, more than you can imagine," he whispered into her hair.

Artemys wasn’t sure why she had brought up Aine in the first place. Perhaps…although she wouldn’t admit it….she was jealous of the previous Head Lady who had captured the hearts of several. Sure she really couldn’t care less at the time of even thinking of finding someone to love but deep down… maybe love wasn’t what she wanted….it was something that she needed. Right now, hearing Lenard say that he loved her….it was just skeptical in her mind….she would have never imagined ever hearing somebody tell her those three simple words that could bring about the most intense heartfelt feeling.

Even though her heart wasn’t beating anymore then she still could imagine the feeling as he held her face in his hands and stared warmly into her eyes. She merely stared down at her hand that was resting above the spot where his heart was as if expecting a racing heart beat. How she wished it was possible… Then listening to him say that she had to open up to him in order to know his feelings…could she really do that? Sure she did perhaps once back at the forest so he could ease her mind but it wasn’t exactly something she felt comfortable doing and especially for just anyone. The deed was still debatable as Lenard kissed her so intensely and passionately. Just like some time ago, she could feel a pressure wanting to enter her mind. She knew what it was but should she let it? Did she really want to know? Of course she did…

As she let down her ability then immediately she was convinced of his love for her. His feelings were so overwhelming… knowing that he really did love her like he said… it was rather frightening yet at the same time it made her happy. She had never felt this way before. Her feelings for him were perhaps not as intense as his but they were slowly growing. Maybe she still had a twinge of doubt in her and she knew he knew that…. Wasn’t she supposed to hate him? Want to kill him for putting her through a miserable life and not to mention killing her aunt? Despite that there was no denying now that it was out for Lenard to know that she returned the feelings… She loved him back.

When the kiss ended and she was wrapped in his arms, she felt like she could stay there forever. She really did feel safe there for some reason. And hearing him once again whisper those three words, she was sure that she would never get over them. "I’m supposed to hate you… aren’t I?" Artemys asked rather quietly. "What…would you say…if I told you… that I love you too? Would you think me foolish?" Artemys didn’t know what she was supposed to feel… vengeful against the man who murdered her relative and made her think she was the one who did it all these years? Or forgiving? One thing she did know and which rather confused her was that she loved him...no denial...

Lenard moved back a little and looked at Artemys when she asked what he would think if she said she loved him. He smiled a little. "I would say, what the hell are you thinking," he said, brushing a thumb over her cheek. "Or that you were suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, not that I actually kidnapped you, but I would have if I had been able to go through with it, although I doubt we would be sitting here if I had," he said with a slight smile. Sure he might make jokes about it, but that was his way of dealing with things. It was either that or go completely crazy.

Artemys was quite used to Lenard’s humor in these kinds of situations so she just simply shook her head at him with a small smile of her own. "Clearly, I’m not in a right state of mind…" She lightly chuckled. To be honest she had no clue what she was thinking either. How was it that he was doing this to her?

Before saying anything else she slowly pushed away from Lenard but then lead him back over to the bed. After getting herself comfortable beside him, resting her head on his shoulder… she then went a little quiet; a thoughtful expression upon her features as she thought about that last thing that he said. "You know… If you did kidnap me that night… Well… I would think I’d end up one of the bad guys as well…perhaps even willingly." She said quietly. Just thinking about what she said scared her a little especially knowing how she was back then. "And then with my….aunt…" She paused momentarily as she thought about her aunt. "Not saying that I’m happy with what happened to her… what you’ve done… But I think if it hadn’t happened….. if she was still alive… I still think I would have went down a bad path… If she hadn’t…..died…. I wouldn’t have seen the error of my ways." Even though she was just eleven at the time then she was mature for her age despite not acting like it. She knew that what she thought at the time to be her doing was wrong and she rather regretted what happened….

"That’s what I think at least… Everything happens for a reason….even if it’s something bad…" Artemys quietly spoke as she started to tear a little. Sure it wasn’t exactly a thrilling idea to know that your own aunt had to die in order for you to change your ways….and she wouldn't exactly be here right now with Lenard either... But whoever said life was fair?

Looking up at Lenard, she sent him a very light smile. "Even so… I’m not sure I can forgive what you’ve done… But I can forgive you." She told him as she placed her hand on his cheek and lightly brushed it. "That’s one thing you won’t have to worry about anymore. And knowing my aunt… I’m sure that she would forgive you as well." Of course, something like this was rather hard to get over and she probably would never forget it but she knew him enough that he had a lot of regrets in his life and she didn’t want this to be one of those any longer.
