Jessica had been out on her usual snooping around for a good story, but the heatwave that seemed to have been taking its grasp in Carpe Noctum for the last couple of weeks were starting to get to Jessica as well. The sound of her high heeled shoes could be heard as she walked down the long hallway to the door that led into the busy offices of the Tribune. This weather was not at all something a vampire liked and least of all her. She was still dressed up with a tight skirt, although she had put on a light blouse, but the heat made her feel icky and in a more cruel mood than usual. "Can someone turn that air condition on it's a bloody sauna in here," Jessica said in her usual strong British accent.

Alex had agreed Hex could leave the estate to go to work, to help out at the magazine and so having been escorted to the by building like a kid being taken to school by her father, she had been in a particularly foul and sarcastic mood all day. The heat didn't help. She usually wore as little as possible anyway and now in a fairly tight and short dress she wore to annoy her brothers more than anything, she had been pacing the halls like a caged lioness. She had been given her orders for the day - to go through a load of pictures, some of which she had taken herself, and look for any that they could use. She had started editing a few but had quickly grown bored and so as she leaned back in her chair with a heavy sigh, she caught the scent of a vampire nearby and hearing the British accent, she smirked some. "The heat might do you some good, vampire... Get you a little warm blooded again. Perhaps you've forgotten what it feels like." Her attention turned back to the computer she sat on with a dark smirk.

Jessica turned her head in the direction of the blond. Jessica hadn't really been in the office so she hadn't had the pleasure of being formally introduced to her, but Jessica knew very well who she was. The new found sister of the editor and the head photographer. Jessica moved closer to Hex before she stopped and sat on the edge of the nearest desk. "So this is the half-breed. Not quite what I had imagined," Jessica said and looked at the blond with a slightly disgusted look. Of course by half-breed she meant that Hex was only a half sister of the Bernstein brothers. "You multiply like rats, I think your dad should have been neutered, you just keep popping up. You know I think there's a bunch of you running around out there," Jessica said. She didn't play well with others when it was hot, hey she didn't play well with others at any time.

She ignored the vampire as she came closer but when she called her half-breed, her head turned but Hex kept her composure - it seemed she had found a verbal sparring partner. Inhaling deeply, Hex leant back in her chair, letting her eyes linger over the woman, simply smirking darkly. Hex had been told... No, warned... to be on her very best behaviour - after all, she was still under house arrest of sorts. "You wanna talk half-breeds? Well then lets go into the dog that your father got into the night you were concieved... Did you inherit your mother's looks, did you?" Hex knew she couldn't out and out attack this woman but she could irritate her to her hearts content. The worst she figured that could happen was a telling off from Brody or Alex, bu that was nothing new lately. "Don't you have some hard-hitting journalism to be getting on with?" Every word carried mischevious venom.

Except from Alex and Brody, then the people at the magazine didn't talk back, but this one did. Jessica simply gave her a cold stare, but when Hex asked if Jessica didn't have any hard-hitting journalism she was suppose to do a slight smirk spread on Jessica's lips. "Maybe I should, I mean I could always write an article about that kid, what's his name, Jackson Moonlight. Apparently he's turned a human, I can't wait for everyone to know. I mean he must be very embarrassed, not to mention the punishment he got. If you ask me, he should have been thrown out of the town, or at least been degraded to Zeta and thrown into the doggy yard and then let the other dogs deal with him," Jessica said, she had seen the wedding photo in the latest edition of the magazine, so she knew that Hex was married to Jack. "Uh and the scandal THAT would have been for the Bernstein family. I mean the editor in chief of the only magazine in town and the head photographer's family, going straight in the gutter," Jessica said with a cold smirk on her face. Her eyes practically burning into Hex.

The smirk slowly faded from Hex's face as she mentioned Jack and her hands that rested on the arms of the office chair gripped them a little tighter, her nails beginning to dig into them. So it was official - everyone knew what had happened. Her first reaction was to simply jump up and beat the crap out of her, which she could. But it wouldn't look very good to her brothers and she was on thin ice with them anyway. "Well then I guess it's a good thing that no-one did ask you..." Slowly, Hex rose from the chair and very slowly approached this vampire with such a smart mouth, her words turning much quieter all of a sudden. "The human he turned should count himself lucky that it was Jack who attacked him. Because if it had been me, I wouldn't have stopped once I realized he wasn't a vampire. I would have torn him open like a fortune cookie... How about you write that in your article...?" Hex's eyes seemed much more predatory now as she moved ever closer to her.

Jessica remained seated on the edge of the desk, which meant she was somewhat level headed with Hex. A dark smirk spread on her lips as Hex started speaking of what she would have done. "I just might use that. I wonder what your brothers would say if their sister hit the front page with that kind of comment," Jessica said, then she got up and looked down at Hex from her high heels. "Be careful with who you talk to, if you talk like that. You just might get yourself in a whole lot of trouble, something that your brothers can't get you out of," Jessica said in a very low voice. "Maybe I should dig something up about you, you seem interesting. You know, you can say what you want, but you don't scare me. I've been around before you were even a thought, before you parents were born or your grandparents. You are nothing but a novice," Jessica said and padded Hex' cheek as if she was a cute little girl. Then Jessica started to move over to her own desk again.

She was very lucky not to lose the hand that calmly patted her cheek, and as Jessica turned and headed over to her desk, Hex didn't follow right away. Instead, with fire in her blood and in her belly, she gathered up a few print-outs of some of the pictures that were on the computer system. With the photographs in hand, she sauntered slowly over to Jessica, and sat on a nearby one, in exactly the same manner as she herself had done only a moment before. "Dig all you want, Vampire. I don't care what dirt you find on me, if any. I'm pretty good at covering my tracks. If the police can't pin anything on me, then I'm sure that you won't either." Calmly, she tossed down a few of the photo's she carried onto Jessica's desk. "Alex said you needed some images for a few stories you were working on... So I picked out a few. Let me know if you can use them or not.." The images she had given her hadvery little to do with any stories Jessica had been working on lately - instead, they showed a few seemingly unrelated crimes. A warehouse fire, a dead limo driver and the vindicator vampire crime scene, an animal attack in an abandoned house... All Hex's work.
