Carpe Noctum

John figured it would only be a matter of time before one of his sons would try and look him up. John had stayed in the forest, living as a wolf for most of the time, although he had been around the witch' place once in a while for a meal and she had lent him her couch too, but he didn't like to impose on people. John moved through the forest when he caught a familiar scent. Silently he moved in and out between the trees until he reached a small clearing. He spotted his oldest son not far from him. John put his hands in his pocket as he moved a little closer before he came to a halt. "Hello son."

Alex spun around when he heard that familiar voice. He hadn't even noticed his father approaching. Alex simply stared at his dad with a blank expression on his face. "Snooping around again?" he asked as he narrowed his eyes a little. His hand moved slowly behind his back where he grabbed a hold in that handgun he had brought, filled with silver bullets. Not that he exactly had plans of using it, but if it came to it, then he would. Alex had a strange feeling of emptiness as he stood there. Mainly because of the massive disappointment he had towards his dad.

John tilted his head a little as he looked at his son and he couldn't help but chuckle at Alex' remark. "I'm not snooping.....Did you think I would be watching you 24/7?" he asked. He moved a little closer, moving in a somewhat circle around his son. "Look I know we haven't exactly gotten off on the best start, but if you would just give me a chance," he explained. Then he noticed how Alex kept his hand behind his back and John came to a halt. "You're not thinking about shooting your old man are you?" he said and watched as Alex pulled out the gun, but kept it in a vertical position.

Alex never took his eyes off his dad as he moved around him. "You've been watching my kids," he said, his eyes still narrowed. "Do you really think that I would let someone in, who I can't trust? Huh? Damn it dad, you're really a peace of work," he said, still holding the gun down his side. "That depends on you, if you try anything, I will pull the trigger. You're on shaky grounds, Dad," he said, but his focus was moved elsewhere, when he thought he heard a branch break. Were there others out here. He glanced towards his dad, who seemed to be smirking, which unnerved him a bit.

John had heard the sound as well, and he was pretty sure he knew who it was. But he didn't look in the direction from where the sound came from. Instead he kept his gaze on his son. "Look I'm not trying to hurt anyone, let alone you. So just put the gun away. Let's talk. That's all I'm asking for," he said. He figured if he wanted to get the chance to speak to anyone it had to be Alex, not to mention he was the oldest of his children. He let out a sigh as he moved over to a large rock and took a seat. It was getting dark, not that it bothered him much really.

Alex let out a loud huff when he heard his dad. "What could we possibly talk about?" he asked, shaking his head a little. "Why are you doing this? Don't you see what you're doing. Did you know Selena has left, after she ran into you, she's been moody. Why can't you just leave, leave us alone," Alex said, his finger moved over the trigger as if he was thinking about just ending it all. It would be so easy, just aim at his dad and then pull the trigger, but something made him not to do so. "Who's out here with you? Is it AnnaBell?" he asked and looked in the direction where he had heard the branch break.

Breanna had been out on her usual walks through the forest when she caught voices. One of them being John's. She had snug closer, well she had at least attempted to do so, but had accidentally stepped on a branch. She had managed to hide behind a large tree trunk and glanced around it to see John and who she knew was Alex Bernstein, John's son. She wondered what was going on, but she couldn't help but notice that gun, Alex had in his hand. She was wondering if she should used her telekinesis on him and retrieve the gun herself. After all she was standing there unprotected. She bit her lower lip a little as she watched the two men.

John chuckled a little. "You know you're just like your mother. And I'm sorry if it's not going so well in the family, but don't blame it on me. I've not done anything wrong. I didn't follow your kids if that's what you think. It was by coincidence I saw them," he explained and sent his son a smile. "As for AnnaBell, she's probably around, but she's not the only one out here," he said with a slight smirk. "Alex, why don't we just sit down nice and easy and talk like adults. I just want to talk to you. Is that so much to ask for?" he asked and looked curiously at his son.

Alex was starting to get annoyed with this calm behaviour his dad was showing. It was like looking at a wolf in sheep's clothing. Pretending to be oh so friendly, but Alex didn't trust his dad, not for one second. "Why don't you just shut up. You know, I wish you had stayed dead. What Brody and me have been through after you died," he said and moved towards his dad with slow steps. "If I killed you right now, no one miss you. Cause you're a nobody, a simple minion to Aya," he said. He raised his gun and aimed at his dad's heart, but before he could think one more thought, the gun was ripped out of his grasp and he watched it fly over to a dark haired girl who caught it. "Who are you?" he asked and watched as the girl aimed the gun at him. Great, just great.

So far she had simply watched the two, but when she saw Alex aim the gun at his dad, she summoned the gun and caught it and aimed it at Alex. Breanna wasn't a great shot, but she had tried to use firearms before, but she was more used to using her abilities. Not to mention, she didn't exactly walk around shooting people every day. "I'm the one who'll shoot you if you try anything, wolf," she said. She glanced towards John, who seemed to look a bit hesitant at her, she turned her gaze back to Alex. "You know you should be grateful, it's because of your father that your family hasn't been attacked yet, so killing him might not be such a good idea," she said, tilting her head a little.

John turned his head towards the young woman when first Alex' gun flew out of his hand, but secondly she appeared from behind a tree trunk. "Don't get in the middle of this," he said and got off the rock he had been sitting on. He might be a lot of things, but he didn't want his son to get shot, especially not by a mistake. "Just give me the gun," he said and stepped a little closer towards Breanna, reaching his hand out, hoping that she would try and relax a bit. It was enough that he and AnnaBell were known to support Aya, but they didn't need any more. "You have to remember, no one can know about who you really are, so hand it over and go home," he said, moving just a little bit closer.

Breanna's hand started to shake a little, mainly because she wasn't used to hold her arm in that position for very long. "Shut up John, if you had just done your job as ordered, then he wouldn't be threatening you," she said and turned her gaze towards the older Bernstein. "All you've got is a cigarette bud from the Head Gamma. You've had four years and that's the only thing you can come with. Aya isn't pleased with the progress from you, so you better start getting a move on or I will have to start and do what you were suppose to do all along," Breanna said, now getting slightly agitated.

Alex looked from the woman to his dad and back to the woman. Well clearly the two knew each other and Alex was pretty sure the woman was a witch, not many ordinary humans had abilities like that. He was starting to think that maybe he could make a run for it while the two clearly had an argument, but when Selena was brought into the conversation he changed his mind. "What do you mean by that? What the hell are you plotting?!" he practically yelled, looking back at his dad with an angry expression on his face. Alex was close at turning and jump on his dad instead, but he was pretty sure the woman would shoot him if he did that.

Breanna looked back at Alex when he came with his outburst. Breanna laughed coldly. "Oh that's none of your business, you really think we would tell you what we plan for you?" she asked. She moved a little closer as she kept staring at Alex' throat and when she saw him grab it, gasping for air, a dark smirk spread on her face. She lowered the gun as she moved even closer yet. "You will all be my mentor's little meat puppets. Good little dogs, who'll do what she tells you to do and she doesn't even have to lift a finger to do it," Breanna said in a low voice, just as Alex fell to his knees. She knew it wouldn't kill him, but it wasn't pleasant for him either.

AnnaBell sniffed the ground as she moved forward on the hunt for a deer or even better yet...a human. Not that she had her hope up for the latter, but she could always hope. But when she heard agitated voices up ahead, she looked up, her ears peaked. A slight smirk spread over her muzzle when she recognized the voices. She patted closer, the yellow wolf reached the clearing and saw the back of her "beloved" brother who clearly was in the process of choking due to the witch' little ability. Her eyes moved to her dad's who just gave him a stare that told her to stay put, which she did.

Things were starting to get out of hand and when Breanna started to choke Alex, he stepped closer to the witch. "Breanna, STOP!" he yelled and grabbed a hold in her arm. "Things takes time. And you know I can't just try and get close to them like that. Especially after what I've done to my kids, but now you've ruined it completely," he said and let go of the witch. He looked towards Alex who was taking a deep breath as he bend over, catching his breath again. "Just walk away and I will deal with Alex," he said and looked back at Breanna.

Breanna looked towards John's hand with a cold stare before she looked back at John. "No! If you can't do it, then I have to. Blood curses are the strongest and unbreakable," she said. Of course they could be broken, but only by her and she sure had no intentions of doing so. She felt things had been quiet for too long. It was time to get the show on the road. She raised the gun and aimed at Alex, but by the chance John had managed to disarm her, she had fired. It wasn't until then she realised what she had done. She had shot another person. She somehow managed to conjure a small vial into her hand and moved over to the injured werewolf and took some of his blood. She looked from the yellow wolf to John. "I had to do it," she said and with that she ran off, back to her house.

As soon as the witch had taken off, he placed the gun in his waistband behind the back and rushed over to his son. He put a pressure to the gunshot wound, but he could see that the silver bullet was already taking its effect. He looked towards his daughter. "Call for help! NOW!" he yelled, before he looked down to his son. "I'm really sorry about this, I really am," he said, looking over his shoulder and spotted AnnaBell who had turned into her human form and was in the progress of calling 911. Right now he blamed himself for this, he knew he had stalled things, but what was he suppose to do and now his son was injured.

AnnaBell had made an annonymous call saying that a man lied in the forest with a gunshot wound. When she had finished the call, she moved a little closer. "They will be here soon. We have to go," she said, looking down to Alex, who clearly didn't look too good. He was shaking and clammy looking. "John.....Dad! Come on," she said and pulled in her dad. She didn't really feel what her dad was feeling, she didn't know Alex that well. She cast another glance to her brother before she pulled in her dad again, who finally got up and before long they had turned and run off, leaving Alex in the forest, where peremedics found him and brought him to the hospital.
