Rae was starting to get frustrated with the algorithm that she was working on to send in to her contact in Washington. Nothing seemed to fit, anything she tried, came back with a negative response. That's why she had come to the library, to hopefully find the solution to her problematic equation. Looking through the science books Rae couldn't find a thing to help her. Deciding it was time to take a break from her algorithm, Rae walked away from her computer, and headed for the stacks in back, hoping to find a good book to take her mind away.
Looking through her favourite authors, Rae grabbed one, The Flame and the Flower a classic romance novel, known for it's heart warming story. Taking the book to one of the chairs in the corner, she sat down and started to read.

It had been a couple of frustrating days, still without any news of his brother's where-abouts, after two days off to go search for his brother he had decided to go back to work, he still had a magazine to get out, so he had pretty much grabbed his notebook and pen and headed off, where to he didn't have a clue off.
His path lead to the library, it had been a while since he was there last, so as he went through the big doors and into the reading hall, he looked around. What a boring article it would be if he was going to write about the local library, he thought as he quietly walked down the different aisles, until he reached a sitting area. He looked around at his surroundings, the only person in this part of the library was a woman he hadn't seen before. He took a seat in one of the chairs and grabbed a newspaper that was floating on the table in front of him. It was today's paper from one of the other towns near Carpe Noctum, not that he was that interested in that particular town, but when he was half way through he realised he was searching for news about his brother.
When he had went through it he threw the paper over at the table with out moving his body and lead out a sigh. His journalistic skills had completely disappeared, he was blank so instead he started to look at the woman instead although he wasn't really seeing her. "Is it any good?" he suddenly asked and referred to the book the woman was reading, why he actually said anything he didn't really know, but he did it anyways.

Rae was getting to a really good part of the book, when the man who had just sat across from her asked if her book was any good. Looking up, a little annoyed at being interrupted when she was trying to clear her mind, she replied "Ya, it's pretty goood, but only if you like history and romance together." She laughed a little, sure that this guy would drop the conversation as soon as she mentioned a romance novel.
Looking up at him again, Rae noticed that he too was a werewolf and he looked really upset about something, like a lost dog looking for his owner. Smirking at that sudden thought, Rae looked at the guy again and asked, "You okay? You look like you just misplaced your best friend or something." It sounded a little bemused, but he had interrupted her reading.

Brody wasn't really looking for anyone to talk to and at least some stranger he didn't even know, but when she talked about the book being a romantic one none the less he raised an eyebrow, but other than that he didn't commented it, he simply nodded. He didn't exactly read romantic novels, he was more of a thriller kinda guy if it had to by fiction. He couldn't help pull a little smile off when she asked him what was wrong and that he looked like he had misplaced his best friend. "You could say it's something like that. I wouldn't exactly say misplaced, more dissapeared, " he said, but didn't comment more on it, he pulled out his cell phone to see if he had any messages, he had put it on silent, but as always there weren't the ones he had hoped for, so he put the phone back in his pocket. "Work isn't going exactly as I hoped it would, lost my muse, " Brody said with pressure on muse. He didn't really mean to do it, but he pouted his mouth a little and looked like a sad puppy.

"Well, that's no good. How'd you lose your muse?" Rae asked the guy. Here she was sitting in a library trying to work on a formula, but like this guy just couldn't work on it anymore, and now she was asking him what was wrong. 'If only Mom could see me now, she'd have kittens if she knew I was talking to a strange man, let alone in a library,' she thought to herself, while she examined the guy's interesting pout.
"If you leave your face looking like that any longer it might stick, and then any human around could guess what you are," Rae giggled, as she set her book on the table in front of her. This guy apparently needed someone else to talk to that didn't know him. Not that Rae had alot of experience with these kinds of situations being a lab rat and all, but she knew when someone needed help.
Sitting back in her chair, she prepared herself to listen to what the man had to say, "By the way my name's Rae," she said lightly, introducing herself to the young man.

Brody smiled a little when Rae said that if he continued pouting like that it would stick, so he placed his face in a more usual expression, but he still looked lost though. "My brother disappeared a couple of days ago and I've spent most of the time looking for him, but I know him too well if he doesn't want to be found we won't find him, so what better thing to occupy your brain is to go back to work, but that's no good either. You see he works at the magazine with me, so everyone knows him and everyone comes over and ask if I've heard anything, which I haven't. So I thought I needed to get out, see if I can dig up a story somewhere, but I doubt there'll be one here, " he said and looked around for a moment in hope there might jump a story out behind a bookshelf or something. "Sorry, here I'm blabbering about my personal problems and I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Brody, " Brody said and gave Rae a friendly smile.

Rae sat there listening to the guy tell about his missing brother. It wasn't an uninteresting story and if anything it gave her an idea. "Have you written anything about his disappearance, or the circumstances surrounding it?" she asked him, trying to help. He had introduced himself as Brody, and knowing his name now gave her a chance to get to know him a little better.
Rae thought about his predicament a little more, knowing it must be hard to lose a brother, just like she'd lost her partner. But this was different, this was a family thing. Looking back at Brody with an intent look upon her face, Rae thought about letting him in on her algorithm and it's purpose, just so that he could get his mind off his brother.
"I've got an even better idea. Do you want to write about my coming to town to work on a military algorithm, after the lose of my partner? It's not as interesting as it could be, but it's better than sitting here not doing anything proactive," Rae piped in, hoping Brody'd take the idea and use it, while getting him back into writing again.

When Rae suggesting hi to write about his brother's disappearance he quickly shook his head. "No, I don't want to be the one to reveal my brother's hidden skeletons and second of all it's a family matter. I would break my moral codex if I started to write about it. I won't and I can't, " he said, after he had finished college and had gotten his first real job he was presented by a story, sadly it was about an old friend of his. He did the piece, but in the process he lost a friend over it and he didn't want to do that to his brother, especially the circumstances to Alex' disappearance.
So when Rae instead suggested an article about her and her work, he smiled a little. "Maybe, when you talk about it like that it doesn't exactly sound like a page turner. What is the algorithm for? And what happened to your partner? Can you even talk about it when it's for the military, I thought they were very hush hush about their affairs, " Brody asked, the journalist he was, he right away started to dig into the bone, just in case there was something interesting worth writing about, who knew she just might have something worth writing about, but he didn't keep his hopes up.

"Well first off I'm technically retired, so I'm not required to keep my mouth shut anymore, and what I'm doing is technically for humanitarian reasons," Rae told him, as he started to gush questions, this was a good start and hopefully he'd write about it and keep his mind busy.
"Now as for my partner, he was killed in action over seas, while flying a mission for Desert Storm. His aircraft was targeted by an anti-aircraft missile land to air bound. It's because of him and that incident that I retired, and started to work on this algorithm," Rae was starting to shake a little when she remembered the attack, she had just gotten on the come system with him, to discuss the new formula for the air drop shells, when the line had gone dead, and his signal lost.
"The algorithm I'm working on is to help detect and avoid anti-aircraft missiles. It's complicated to read off the paper if you don't know what you're reading. It's designed to help the pilots get home safely, and I came here to one of the oldest towns around to see if I could dig up any old information from the Cold War and such, see if I can use anything at all that you guys have in the archives," Rae, thought about everything she had found so far, and yet she was almost done but still missing one crucial link to the puzzle.
Looking back over to where she'd left her computer, Rae thought back to the exact composition of her algorithm. "Oh my lord, excuse me for a second Brody, I think I just realized what I was missing," she told him, as she stood up from the chair and dazedly walked to the computer. Looking at the alphanumerics and symbols on the screen, she made two keystrokes, a click of the mouse and four more strokes before looking up again at Brody, "Well, now you can say that I discovered the way to bring our boys home."
Rae couldn't believe it, talking to Brody about her partner and the algorithm had cleared her mind enough to allow her to rethink over what the elements were in her solution. Lookingf over her screen again, she sent a copy of it to her contact in Washington, before signalling Brody over to come see it.

Brody listened to what Rae had to say, he still couldn't quite see the article potential, but perhaps he could do a small piece about her and her work, but he needed to know more about her before he could determine if there was anything of interest. As she showed him the algorithm he simply stared at it as if it was a foreign language. "Nice, I have no idea what it says. I'm more of a linguistic kinda guy not math science what ever this is, " he said with a little smile on his face. When she told him about coming to Carpe Noctum to look in some old files from the Cold War he smiled a little. "I might be able to help you a little on that, I'm not sure we have something about the Cold War, but the magazine has a warehouse here in town filled with old files on articles, stories you name it regarding the Cold War, I can take you there if you want, I can't promise we have anything of use, but you can have a look. It might take some time as the boxes aren't actually cataloged and categorized, but I can give you access to it, you just have to fill out some paperwork. If you're interested that is," Brody said, he finally felt like being able to help someone or at least try and help someone who needed to find information and apparently Linda had bought the warehouse of the former paper that was in the town.

Splashing Colours in the Chat

It is now possible to get your name in your favourite colour, as long they don't get too close to Katie, Susie and Kat's (when she's got her colour coded). Anything in a lighter shade or in a completely different colour is possible. All you have to do is send me a PM with a colour code and I will change it asap.

Kat has announced that she'll be moving to the Philippines to study and because of that we have announced Katie as our third admin, so I'm not completely alone and Kat can concentrate on her studies. Kat will of course try and be on as much as she can after she's moved. So if something is burning in here, then you can now ask Katie for help as well.

Remember that you can use as many of your characters you want to vote with as long you don't vote for one of your own characters. You can find them here. The polls will close June 1.
