Carpe Noctum

Activity in the castle was fairly quiet today… or at least that’s how Artemys found it to be. Her mood wasn’t one of the best at the moment and she’d rather not be around anyone in case she should snap. Personal life you could say was the cause although so was school what with exams coming up soon. Currently she had taken to the library to get some studying and homework done. She was sitting comfortably in an arm chair in front of the fireplace with an open biology textbook upon her lap. Her gold and violet eyes were glued intently on it –an expressionless look upon her facial features- when they took the time to tear away towards the door which had just opened. A new resident it looked like to her… not very surprising she had to say since lots of newcomers arrived every now and then.

A sigh escaped her as she rested a hand on top of her book while the other went under her chin. "Evening… You must be new here to the castle." She said in a quiet tone as she tiled her head a little. "Welcome and I do hope you like it here. Is there something I could do for you?" Artemys was the Head Lady after all and she took it upon herself to make sure new arrivals were welcomed into the castle… even right now with her bitter mood.

Artemys eyed the man curiously. Well that’s something she didn’t see every day… a wanderer merely taking in the surroundings of the castle as well as seeking out another someone to converse with. She listened to how he came to Carpe Noctum…this Yuri friend of his… she had never heard of anyone with such a name around here… but then again it wasn’t like she knew every single person or at least vampire in town… if that’s what this Yuri was… a vampire. However, she didn’t feel like pressing on with the matter… perhaps she was just delving too much into the detail. As for this man himself... he seemed nice enough... didn't look like he was going to be any trouble... Of course that still didn't keep her from being suspicious... "Well… I suppose you could say this place has great opportunity. It certainly is something that is for sure." She said with a very thin smile. "If you should ever need a place to stay then feel free to take a room here… This place is a home to all vampires."

When she was asked about her own person, she let out a little chuckle. "How about introductions first? I am Artemys Twilight… Head Lady of the town." She introduced herself with a straight face. She really did hate speaking out her rank. "So feel free to come to me for anything… And as for what I am doing… I live here sometimes in case I am needed otherwise you could always find me at my home in the hills… Right now I am simply studying and getting homework done." Artemys explained with a smile. "Just because I am in charge of this place doesn’t mean I get to skip out on school."

Artemys couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Antinanco’s comment about simply just taking a room at the castle. She replied with a nod. "Nice to meet you Antinanco… Well… I do not see why not. There’s really no one here to say you cannot anyways." After hearing him refer to her as a ‘celebrity’ she lightly shook her head with a small smile. "I’m flattered really but I don’t really see myself as some kind of celebrity to be honest. Although I guess the only thing a celebrity and a Head Lady have in common would be that their job isn’t an easy one." And she could gladly say that again. Even though she didn’t have the position for too long then she knew from the start that taking it wouldn’t be a walk in the park.

Artemys looked thoughtful for a moment when Antinanco asked her another question. "I would say it was… Vampires after all are the only ones allowed around here seeing as this is vampire territory. And as for other places… well that’s each vampire to their own preference… I myself do not exactly go out much… although going to the mall or a walk on the beach or boardwalk sounds appealing to me sometimes… Is there any particular places that would interest you?" Even though she didn’t get out much she still knew just about where anything was.

Artemys smiled widely when Antinanco said he would take residence at the castle after all. "Excellent. It would certainly help you in case you need to ask for my assistance. Feel free to choose any vacant room that is to your liking." As he asked her what entailed with her job, she was quick to answer. "Basically to keep an eye on the vampires in town… if there’s any troubles going on then I will be notified along with the other head vampires’ on what to do with the situation… it will in the end be myself and the Head Lord’s decision seeing as we hold the top authority… and then there’s meetings if need be… and trials… Sounds easy enough but ‘easier said than done.’" Seeing as she wasn’t going to get any studying done at this point, she slammed her textbook shut before resting it beside her. "Any and all races can live and own a home at the hills or just about anywhere except the restricted areas… I have a sister living there you know… she’s a witch… and then my other sister, a werewolf, spends the weekend there along with myself." The Head Lady said with a small smile. She figured he’d probably be puzzled by the mix of races in her family and she would gladly explain if he should question it.

" I have lived here practically my whole life… over at my home at the hills at first… it wasn’t until some years ago that I took residence here at the castle… As for the clothing dilemma then I would say the mall." A curious look then painted her features when Antinanco asked her to accompany him with shopping for new clothes. It wasn’t long before a little smile creased her lips. "Well… Can’t say I would be much help in the fashion department. I usually tend to wear what looks good and feels comfortable to be honest but of course I could go with you if you really want me to. If it helps, then I can say what doesn’t look good." Artemys lightly chuckled.

"Some rooms are more spacious than others… Mine probably has the most seeing as it is the Head Lady’s quarters. But I have been through a lot of the common ones and they are just as good as my room." Artemys explained as she leaned back further into her chair to get herself more comfortable. She took a brief moment to gesture Antinanco over to a nearby chair seeing as he was still standing in the same spot as when he walked in. "Please have a seat." She smiled before chuckling at his second comment. "Possibly more so than any other town. You could say Carpe Noctum is popular though for its being the most integrated between the races and the fact that we do try to keep the peace between them…. Oh and yes, haha. Quite observant of you but yes… the Hills area is where the wealthy tend to reside… If you have the money to afford it then it would be good to live there."

When he stated that she must have known the town inside and out, she looked thoughtful for a moment before putting on a smile and shrugging her shoulders. "I suppose you could say that…. And it really is no problem… however way I can help, I will take it. As for when that would be… well, perhaps tomorrow afternoon if that is alright with you. I am sure you would like to get settled here first." He only just arrived at the castle after all so she figured he’d want to explore the place first and choose a room for himself.

It was then that Artemys was feeling a little hungry and wondered if she should head to the kitchen for some food. "Would you like to accompany me to the kitchen? I’m getting a bit hungry. Or if you want something to eat as well. We keep both animal and human blood for whatever anyone would prefer." She said to Antinanco as she turned to look at him a little thoughtfully again.

"I do not have a job to be honest and the only one closest to one is merely my rank as Head Lady although it’s not a paying one. No… you could say myself and my sisters have and are been provided for by my parents…. Wherever they may be." Artemys said with a thin almost sad smile. Sure it was nice not having to worry about money issues but she wished her parents were around for most of her life. The only things she recalled of them were a little fuzzy in her memory seeing as they left when she and Serena were around 6 years old. "As for the little mall trip then you can just meet me at the front of the castle. We can take my car." Walking to the mall would take forever or at least to her it would. When he briefly explained his blood preference she merely smiled. "Animal blood isn’t that bad once you get used to it… I like to keep to it most of the time and then have myself fresh human blood every now and then. I tend to get a little out of character when I do though but at least I’ll be able to intake both should one ever be limited in availability." When Antinanco said he would follow her to the kitchen she nodded before getting up. Noticing her textbook she took the time to project it back to her room and when she did she felt a little jolt in her heart before making her way to exit the room. "Well, let us be off then. Perhaps we can tour the castle a little as well if you want. You will be living here after all and I am sure you would like to explore the place." She grinned a little over at the man as she crossed the doorway and headed down the hall. Of course all the while making sure her companion was trailing behind.
