Carpe Noctum

Carpe Noctum. It was once a small, isolated town with almost zero population living in it. But now, just a few years after the black-haired vampire had come, Carpe Noctum had grown into a massive, modern city. People came and people went; and so did the werewolves and vampires. Some just disappeared like ghosts and some still remained. Zillion things had happened, and each thing changed both the town and its population. Buildings were renovated, rebuilt and remodeled.
The male vampire was curious about a particular building; he hadn't been there for years and he wanted to know how the building was now; whether it was renovated or remodeled.

So here the male vampire was, in the Midnight Museum. Albeit it was called Midnight Museum, the male actually came there in the day time. One of the reasons why he was there was to avoid the excruciating heat; it had to be around 40°C outside.

Anyway, the Asian-looking vampire's long legs were wrapped in a pair of dark blue jeans; his slender body was wrapped in a plain black T-shirt and a silver -with some bright red touch on the inner of the hood and on the tip of the sleeves-. A pair of red shoes were also worn, matching the red on the male's hoodie. He had his jet black hair styled like usual; the bangs were in his face, not completely blocking his vision.

Standing in the museum's air-conditioned lobby, the relatively slender vampire scanned through the mini map with this jet black-iris eyes; and decided to go to the paintings' section. Fahrenheit had always enjoyed the fine art and he simply couldn't get enough of them.
In all of a sudden, a strange scent crept up into his nostrils. He recognized it was a human scent right away; but there was something different about it. The rather-pale male inhaled the air once more and turned his head to the source of the scent. There was a human who currently was sitting on the floor with his eyes fixed on a dark painting in front of him.

The male human didn't seem to move an inch, well, perhaps he had realized the vampire presence and decided not to react much. Who knows. Thinking that way, the slender vampire -still with a high awareness of the human presence- shifted his eyes to the painting the human had been staring at.

The Lord's black-iris eyes were fixed on the painting that the male human was also staring at. There was something weird with the painting itself. The overall theme was dark and lonely, with no living creature to dwell in the everlasting scene. You could see some of the part of the silent, daunting forest; its vine, its trees, its moss, and basically everything to make it looked like a haunted forest. Grey mountains decorated the gloomy atmosphere as the background of the painting. And you could actually see a light that looked like it was swallowed whole by the sky's black hole; making an odd, empty feeling to whoever studied the old canvas painting. If you looked carefully, you would hear the sound of a relatively small waterfall just next to the mountains. The waterfall was there as if its duty was to break the dead silence. But however, that only added the feeling that the painting could swallow you into it and capture you there. Scary feeling. What bothered the male vampire more was how the painter painted the long, wooden stems and put them as the cover of the water line below. If you set your eyes on the painting for quite awhile, you would get the shiver feeling from imagining a hideous creature emerged from the water line and started to chase you down.

Enough with the painting's interpretation. The pale vampire finally took his eyes off the painting and put some attention to what the human was doing. To tell you the truth, the undead had no idea of what the human was doing. All he could sense was an eerie, cool air around the human; that was way too unnatural. There was something in this human that Fahrenheit had to be careful of.

In all of a sudden, the 15-years-old-looking human stood up and threw the vampire a smile. Being a little surprised from what the human said to him, Fahrenheit gave the human a small, cold smile in return. The stranger had to have something in mind about the vampire that he didn't know. Perhaps it was still connected with the painting since he said the word 'canvas'.

"I'll take that as a compliment." the vampire ended his sentence with a small, sinister smile on his facial expression. He had many other sarcasm answers, but he decided to stick with that answer. There was a funny feeling in his throat when the human spoke; perhaps it was his basic vampiric instinct, which was the urge to feed from the human. Not to mention that the male vampire hadn't had his meal for quite a long time. Shaking that thought off, the male vampire gave the human another small smile.

The cold vampire decided to lean his body to the wall opposing the paintings, indicating he was more relaxed but still aware of his surroundings. Fahrenheit let out a small sigh escaped from his throat as he watched the human in the corner of his eyes. Albeit the fact he was a vampire, he knew that staring was rude.
Shifting his weight to part of the body that was leaning on the wall, the lord felt that the human somehow was not a potential threat to him. That human could be his potential meal, yes; but not a threat.

Hearing what the human just said to the vampire, he couldn't help it but chuckle. That was something really weird to say to a stranger; to a vampire you didn't know of, in this case. "Pshh," he said with a sinister tone, "I would rather imagine you in that painting." He chuckled once again and returned back to his serious face.

"No, an obvious subject in that painting would ruin the elements' balance," he took a quick look at the painting, "The painting was made to create that gloomy, empty feeling inside you." he finished the sentence. Fahrenheit liked the art and he had actually studied about them in his spare time.

Again, what the human said to him made him a little bit surprised. Not one living creature had asked him that question frankly, "You want to accompany a stranger?" asked the male with a small grin in his pale face. He was starting to grow some interest in that male human. Perhaps he could make the vampire's day fun.

Now that the human whose name Fahrenheit did not know was already standing before him, the vampire could take a good look at his face and overall appearance well. The human had jet black hair, just like Fahrenheit; and he had a pair of hazelnut eyes. His hazelnut eyes were actually pleasant to any eyes who stared into them; it was a mixture of calmness and something mysterious in them. It felt like they could drown people who looked at them. Fahrenheit liked the human's eyes.

The height. The human was a little bit shorter than the vampire, with a slightly slender body that was also similar to the male's body. "Friends?" the Lord almost laughed at the word 'friend'. He didn't believe on friends' existence. There was no such thing as friendship. It was simply a reciprocal relationship between two beings, and it could be ended anytime.

Just then, the human turned his body to the hallways direction. That action showed Fahrenheit the back of the human's neck. Temptation. And again, he could feel the boiling desire to feed inside of him. Sighing to release the inner tension, Fahrenheit stood back up; not leaning to the wall anymore. "Identify yourself." the vampire himself was quite surprised that it sounded more like a command than a question. "...You can call me Fahrenheit," and then an idea struck him, "A Fledging." he grinned.

The male vampire ran his fingers through his jet black hair so it didn't block his view. The thing about having such a hairstyle was that it often covered your face and blocked some of your view; especially when you had straight hair like Fahrenheit did. Shifting his rather cold gaze from the human to the watch on his left wrist, the male noticed that the night was still young; indicating he still had much time to spend.
When the human introduced himself, Fahrenheit shifted his eyes back to him. Sumdyl Lail. A name that the vampire would remember with the tag 'interesting' in his mind. Not only was the human, Sumdyl, interesting, but also polite.

Fahrenheit couldn't help but chuckled a little after hearing Sumdyl's second statement. Sumdyl sure did make Fahrenheit both curious and interested in him. Perhaps the black haired vampire would keep an eye on Sumdyl and -if possible- hang out with him. Hang out was not a word that the vampire often used since it sounded too 'human'.
Responding to Sumdyl's question, Fahrenheit took a few steps closer to his new human acquaintance and a small grin appeared on his pale face, "No, you lead the way." Fahrenheit spoke.
