Lillian found herself sitting in a chair towards the back of the library. She did not know what book she held in her hands but she would turn a page every now and then to make it seem like she was reading it. Her mind was on one thing, well one person, she didn't know what to do. She was feeling something that she had not felt before. She had told Jake she was going to finish reading a movie.... a movie! She shook her head at the stupid thing she had said, but she was nervous and completely baffled by her feelings so that was the first thing that she said. "A movie...... how ridiculous." she muttered to herself as she turned another page. What she was feeling for Jake was new to her and it frightened her a tiny bit because she did not know what to do with this feeling.

Tom was walking with several books under his arm that he had to return, it was last chance if he didn't want to pay for the late overdue. He placed the books on the counter and looked around the library, he smiled to several people, who were students of his. His eyes fell on familiar head even though the person sat with the back to everyone and everything. He gave the librarian a smile before he headed towards the figure in the other end of the library, but when he had almost reached the person someone call out for him, he looked around and noticed a young man who was waving manically, he walked over the boy and talked with him, but he kept glancing back to the figure who sat on her own. When he finally had finished talking with the young man he took the last steps to the lonely woman. He stopped and observed her for a second, she didn't look like she was reading. He sat down in the seat next to her and looked straight ahead. "'Ello ms. Nóillión, at the library as always," Tom said and turned his head and gave her a smile. You could say Tom was the kind of professor who was on the same page as the students, maybe it was because of his relaxed behaviour or the fact that he didn't mind listening to his students' problems. He was in that believe if you took care of the student and not the whole person behind the student will not function academically. "Looks like you've got other things on your mind than studying," he said and looked observant at the young woman. Unlike most humans he knew of the existence of werewolves and vampires and was pretty sure that this young student was one of them, but he didn't' really care.

Lillian looked up and smiled when she saw her professor sitting across from her. "Hello Professor Quest, by all means call me Lillian" she said as she closed the book and moved in her seat some so she was facing him better. "I'm just letting a bunch of things that are on my mind settle. Trying to figure out what exactly I should do or what I want to do." she told him as she placed the book on her lap and folded her hands on top of it. Looking at Professor Quest she gave him a small smile before looking at the book cover, she was beginning to figure out what she should do.

Tom nodded when the young student said he could call her Lillian and then gave her a smile. He listened to her and then he looked thoughtful for a moment before he responded. "Ah yes, it's not always easy to keep everything in check in here," Tom said and pointed to his head and gave Lilly a smile. "But the question is, is the things that your pondering over regarding your mind, your heart or your soul. Each thing has to be dealt in different ways. We can easy reason things with our minds, but not always wise when it comes to our heart and soul. Just as when we're dealing with things of the heart and soul we tend to use them when it comes to the matters of the mind," Tom said and looked thoughtful at Lilly. He knew he tended to put on the philosopher's hat on, you could say he liked his students to think over what he said instead of taking his words for granted. "You are a bright young woman, but sometimes you shouldn't think so much, but follow what your gut tells you. If we think too much over what ever we're pondering over it can sometimes makes us go blind and not see the answer that is right in front of us," Tom said and leaned back in his chair, he crossed his leg over the other and looked at the book in Lilly's lap.

"Hamlet" she said as she lifted the book up so he could see the cover. She let his words sink in, what he was saying was very true. What was on her mind was actually coming from her heart, she had always followed her heart before so she did not see any reason to not follow it now. A genuine smile was on her face now as she moved forward in her seat some. "You are a brilliant man mister Quest. Brilliant for your time, good thing you are a professor." she told him. She hadn't met this nice of a professor since her first year of college.

Tom could remember first time he read Hamlet, he had thought it was rubbish, but later he learned to appreciate Shakespeare's work. "Angels and ministers of grace defend us! Be thou a spirit of health or goblin damn'd, Bring with thee airs from heaven or blasts from hell, Be thy intents wicked or charitable, Thou comest in such a questionable shape that I will speak to thee: I'll call thee Hamlet, king, father, royal Dane: O, answer me! Let me not burst in ignorance; but tell why thy canonized bones, hearsed in death, have burst their cerements; why the sepulchre, wherein we saw thee quietly inurn'd, hath oped his ponderous and marble jaws, to cast thee up again. What may this mean, that thou, dead corse, again in complete steel revisit'st thus the glimpses of the moon, making night hideous; and we fools of nature. So horridly to shake our disposition. With thoughts beyond the reaches of our souls? Say, why is this? wherefore? what should we do?" Tom quoted as he resided a part of Hamlet from the first act. He looked thoughtful for a second before he focused on Lilly and gave her a smile. "Pretty much the only thing I remember by heart from that play, well except from the to be or not be," Tom said and chuckled a little. "I think it's a good thing I'm not teaching in literature or we might have a problem," Tom said and gave Lilly a smile. "And I think I'll take it as a complement that you think it's good that I'm a professor. But I have a certain view on what a professor should be, it's not just teaching. You have to make sure the students are whole in both body and soul or they will not function. Just how much did you actually read of Hamlet while you sat here? And how much did you understand? When your mind wanders then you can't concentrate on what you're actually doing, so that's why I always tell my students that if there is anything they want to get off their chest then by all means come and talk or at least talk to a friend or family member if you don't want to reveal your deepest and darkest secrets to a simple professor," Tom said with a little smile. "Oh and I hope you'll join the field trip in January, it'll be revealed later this month and I can promise you, it's quite a place and quite a tale," Tom said and sent Lilly a mysterious look.

She couldn't help but smile as he quoted something from the first act of Hamlet, he did quite well. When he said there would be a field trip coming up she wanted to ask where it would be but then she figured she would just wait till he told the whole class. "I will certainly go on this trip, you make it seem so mysterious that I just have to attend." she said. Then she thought about what she wanted to say next, trying to put into the correct word form, "Is it always good to follow your heart?" she asked. Lillian felt like that was a stupid question to ask, cause of course you should always follow your heart, she shook her head and looked down at her book.

Tom thought about Lilly's question for a while before he answered. "Well that depends the circumstances. If it conflicts between what's right and wrong, then you need to follow what's make you feel like you can live with yourself from the choices you make. If it's someone you have feelings for, who's not treating you right, then you shouldn't follow your heart, but get out of the relationship right away. I guess all I can say is go to what you feel is right, if the positive things over shine the negatives then I can't see why not following your heart," Tom said. It was hard to come with a yes or no answer in this case, cause there could be so many different points of views in this matter. Not to mention he had no clue on what her problems were in. "I would say if there should be any negative sides to the problem and you simply want what ever you want to happen, then get the negative sides out of the picture. Deal with them. Also is there a possibility that you would regret your choice if you go for it or not," Tom said and gave Lilly a little smile. "I'm sorry I don't have a straight answer for your question, Lilly," Tom said with a little smile.

"It is a question that cannot recieve a straight answer. Your opinion on the matter was very helpful though." she told Tom. Standing up she gave him a smile "It was great talking to you Professor. I have to go now but I will see you in class. Have a great night." she said before walking away, dropping her book on a return cart as she headed out of the library door. Their little chat had helped her settle some things, she was very glad that he had come over to talk to her. Getting in her car she pulled away from the library and headed for home.

When you see a poll of some sort, then try and take the time to read what it's about and who's allowed to vote. This means in particularly the homecoming polls. They are ONLY for High School characters. So if your character isn't a high school student then DO NOT VOTE!!!! Thank you.
Splashing Colours in the Chat

It is now possible to get your name in your favourite colour, as long they don't get too close to Katie, Susie and Kat's (when she's got her colour coded). Anything in a lighter shade or in a completely different colour is possible. All you have to do is send me a PM with a colour code and I will change it asap.
New Admin

Kat has announced that she'll be moving to the Philippines to study and because of that we have announced Katie as our third admin, so I'm not completely alone and Kat can concentrate on her studies. Kat will of course try and be on as much as she can after she's moved. So if something is burning in here, then you can now ask Katie for help as well.

If you haven't voted for the monthly polls yet then you can still do it. Remember that you can use as many of your characters you want to vote with as long you don't vote for one of your own characters. You can find them here. The polls will close June 1. Furthermore we have two homecoming polls. So let your high school characters vote for who should be homecoming king and queen. The polls closes 9 June, you can find them in the event board.

Carpe Noctum is the decendant of the old forum, Vampires Vs. Werewolves started by Kikyo in 2007. In 2010 we moved the forum from Proboards to vForums with success. Carpe Noctum is build over the old forum with new features and storyline attached to it.
