The Runaway (Marcello) - Posted By Kalina Mendez (jean12) on 3rd Jun 12 at 6:26pm

Kalina still wasn't quite herself and she was tired of Brico seeing her like that so during the night when he was sleeping she ran away. There was one person in mind that she wanted to see and she was hoping that he would run into her soon. Kalina just wanted to feel like herself again. As she ran in her wolf from she cursed in her head, hating Ben for how he now had her...it was all his fault. And as she thought of him a shiver ran down her spine. Arriving at the lake Kalina paused to drink some of the cool water, looking up at the night sky before laying down, her front paws resting in the water. Just laying there allowed her mind to wander and pretty soon she found herself crying. Shifting Kalina sat up and pulled her knees to her chest as the tears rolled down her cheeks, she still felt so very violated.

To sit in solemn silence on a dull, dark, dock
In a pestilential prison with a life long lock.
Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp, shock
From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big, black, block.

Marcello sat, dripping, on the dock, letting the warm Summer breezes dry his skin. He had just surfaced from what had been a delightful midnight swim. Or perhaps the word was almost delightful, for he couldn't help but feel that something was missing from his late night adventure and, as much as he cared not to admit it, part of him knew what it was. He shook out his hair as if to dispel the very thought. Things were getting dangerous in this town. Essentially, he was waiting for that short, sharp shock to slam down on him, the way he carried on. It would do him well to isolate himself for a few weeks. But oh, that allure was too much to bear. That was why when he caught the scent of a familiar she-wolf out over the water, he was ill to ignore it. Kalina, the little epsilon.

Marcello gathered his clothes about him and started to follow the scent. He chided himself the whole way. But no matter how much he mentally reprimanded himself for not going home, he always took one more step forward, then another, until his sandy feet brought him not but a few meters away from the huddled form by the shore. Despite himself, he smiled. "Well if it isn't my partner in crime." The man greeted. "You know, I realized I had no way to contact you after we split. You still owe me an art session. I was starting to wonder if- Kalina? What's wrong?"

The sand rolled under him as he kneeled down beside her. He had just noticed the crystals hanging from the curve of her chin, and it struck him as odd that the strange, wild woman he had met a few weeks ago could allow herself to cry. Marcello tipped her face toward his. The expression on it was mixed with concern and fear. Just then, he forgot his self- promise to lie low. "Who am I killing?"

He had found her and she was relieved, as he knelt by her and tilted her face up towards his she tried to calm her nerves. Then she moved into and wrapped her arms around him, nuzzling into him as she took deep breaths. "A vampire....he drank from me and there was no way I could fight back..I was pinned like a trapped animal. He drank heavily and I feel so violated. It is like I'm not me anymore." she said as she pulled back some and looked up at him. Then she rested her head on one of his shoulders and ran her index finger along his collar bone slowly. "I just had to find you.....I know you can make me better. Right darling?" she asked. Then she moved away and pulled her sweater a little tighter around her.

He wasn't used to this, seeing someone so vulnerable- not anyone he wasn't about to kill, anyway, and he found that he wasn't sure exactly how to handle the situation. It had been a long time since he had been a shoulder to cry on. Not since... well, those memories were painful, and very, very long ago. That didn't matter now. He rested a hand between the valley of her shoulders as she leaned against him. "Hush, now, it's alright, I'll take care of it."

Marcello was extremely confused over the matter. Hadn't she threatened a boyfriend over him before? No, not even that, a fiance'? He would help regardless, but he wondered where her fellow was at the moment. Calling someone "darling" hardly meant anything over a bloody feast or past the roaring of waves. In a moment of sentimental tenderness though, it seemed suddenly more profound. He pressed his eyes closed. He was definitely over thinking this whole bit. What mattered was that Kalina would be better as soon as possible and Marcello, as a friend, would extend his hand. That was all there was to it. When she pulled away Marcello had one of those rare frowns shadowing his features.

"I'm sure you would've given him hell if you could, huh?" He said, squeezing her hand gently. "I need you tell me anything you can about this vampire. His name, what he looked like. I'll make sure that he doesn't go bothering you again." His grip became slightly less gentle. "I'll send you the pieces, if you want. As proof."

"But it isn't that simple....He did it as a message to Alexandria and it is she who will be doing the killing. Ben is his first name but I do not know his last." she said as she looked at Marcello, "As much as I would love to either take care of it myself or have someone else do it I can't. He owes Alexandria his life...not me. I just feel so violated....Mind if I stay with you for a bit?" she asked. Kalina knew it was asking a bit much seeing as how they didn't really know each other all too well but she felt safe with him just like she did with Brico. She just couldn't stand letting Brico see her upset any longer so she had gone in search of the one other guy who could make her well. Kalina really hoped that he would let her stay.

Marcello snorted slightly when Kalina said that this Ben bloke owed his life to someone else. The thought of waiting was preposterous. This wasn't some simple assault. This was feeding. It was just as bad, maybe even worse than rape, and the thought of one of those leeches smacking their lips with werewolf blood threatened to overturn his usually hardy stomach. "I'm not going to sit back and wait for this blood sucking tick to get justice. I don't care if Alexandria wants him. It's whoever finds him first, and if your girl doesn't act quick, I will." His tone was a little too harsh. He realized this at once and pulled it back, softening his voice with some amount of strain. This stress was exactly what Kalina was trying to escape from. What she needed right now was a friend. "But don't worry about it now. We won't talk about it anymore, alright? Stay for as long as you like. I don't mind. Actually, I'd prefer it."

With that he lay his body down on the sand of the shore, still warmed from the daylight hours. He propped his head so that he could still see Kalina and patted the empty space next to him. There was nothing outrageous in the suggestion, even for him. It was a simple offer. One that he hoped she'd take up, surely, but innocent in origin. "Come on, sweetheart. Lay your head down for a bit. Let's talk about what our next competition is going to be so that you can be prepared for your defeat."

Kalina snorted, "Defeat? Oh Marcos, darling, I don't think you could possibly defeat me." she teased as she moved to lie down beside him. Sleep had been hard to find these days so resting her head was a perfect idea. Kalina was glad for the topic change, turning so her back was to him, their bodies touching she let out a sigh. "We could make some bows and arrows and see who is the better shot, maybe hunt for food like the Indians did back in the day. Or we could just go hunting like the wolves we are." she suggested as she peaked over her shoulder at Marcello, a sweet smile on her face. Then she turned over so she could face him.

It was a fortunate thing that Kalina had mentioned his alias, for he had forgotten exactly which ones he had been handing out lately. Would he tell her what his actual name was? Maybe one day. But for the current, Marcello was perfectly fine with his alternate identity. He sloped an arm over the curve of her side, content with the world for just a few short, peaceful moments. It was enough.

"You'd probably hurt yourself making a bow," He challenged lightly, looking out over the waters. "But hunting, well, I've never been one to turn down a good hunt, provided we go after game that won't land us in trouble again. Your lot was rather unpleasant last time we met. Wouldn't want them down our backs." When she turned around, Marcello brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. She would look good with a bone necklace around her neck, maybe s crown of crow feathers in her hair- yes, that would complete the Artemis look rather nicely. He would be sure to invite her to his next big bonfire. There they could celebrate under happier conditions, get drunk, paint themselves in sheep blood under the caress of a full moon; for one night, they could be the gods of their own world.

"And just because you beat me at swimming, do go around toting your chin up in the air like you're better than me. I'm the King wolf here. I told you before, I'm not going to throw any more matches for you, so you better start boning up." He poked her in the nose at that last part, his little act of defiance made complete with the gesture. "Don't be fooled into thinking that I'm always a good man."

"You may be King of the Wolves but I am the Queen. We both know the Queen comes out on top." Kalina said with a small smile. "Us she wolves are quite powerful, we have to be to bear childeren. Females are the superior sex and that is what I will believe until you prove me wrong." she teased as she gave him a playful nudge and chuckled. Sure the hunt wouldn't be the same but they could find some sort of large animal out there to go after. "I will try not to get us into trouble on our next hunt. Hopefully family will keep away this time." Kalina said with a small growl, sometimes they made her feel so tied down.

"Oh, don't go pushing that 'child bearing' thing on me. I wasn't trying to bait you into a sexist argument. I have a feeling that if I tried, I'd only have one ear by the end of the night, and that's because you would chew the other off at something I might say." Only half of that was a joke; he had seen her leap at a man's jugular before and take him down before the poor bloke had time to think. Still, it was good to see a bit of her old self again. With her mind distracted from Ben, Marcello was able to see the actual Kalina resurface, and he was glad to have that part back. It reminded him of the night they had met.

The growl that followed her comment about family drew a smirk to his lips. "Not a fan of the family, are we?" He asked, brushing a finger down her jawbone. It was so charming when she wolves acted feral, absolutely endearing. "Why don't you tell me a bit about them, while we have the time? I met that blond haired one the other day. Quite the character, that one. She was quite inquisitive about our..." He laughed, almost bashfully. "...partnership."

Kalina leaned into him and draped an arm over his stomach, she could feel its rise and fall with each breath and she could feel that it was toned as seh ran her hand across it to his side. Her hand fiddled with the shirt some as she looked up at him. "Mmm... so you ran into Luna. That is Brico's sister.... She must have thought we were quite the pair. Me and you are something else ya know...." Kalina said as she gave him one of her charming smiles. Then she sighed and rested her head on his chest, "The family....Alexandria is the Alpha Female of the pack, her mate, Titus, not sure where he disappeared to but he is no longer around. Luna and Brico are siblings, Brico is my fiancee. Alexandria has a son named Marcus. She also has a brother named Richard who is married to Eileen, they are having a baby together. she said as she rattled off what she knew. Then she looked back up into Marcellos eyes, "I am tired of talking of them. Why don't you help me forget the world? Bring out my inner beast.....release my wild side hun." Kalina said. There were sparks in her eyes as she inched closer to him, her lips merely inches from his.

Marcello was not ignorant to the small gestures. No, he felt them, felt them like slow, smoldering fire, lingering on his skin long after her fingers had passed. It was shameful, given his record; to be with a nearly married woman to boot, the whole process was completely immoral. But this, this was different than his fling with Bells. Bells was hot, yes, but in a flash fire sort of way, like lightning, like a bullet to the brain kind of rush, not like this. It had been so long since he felt something like this. Her lips were only a few inches away now. The talk of the family had become a drone. Marcello leaned in anymore, his eyes closed, holding her face in the cusp of his hand. He took a deep breath in and smelt her shampoo, the smell of her soap... and Brico.

"Damnit, Kalina." Marcello pulled back suddenly. The look on his face was torn, cut between desire and concern. It was taking everything in his will to hold back. This wasn't right. Here she had been in a state of distress, a weakness, and here he was, taking advantage of it like some sort of snake. He dug his hand into the dirt, trying to disguise his clenched fist. The creamy white bones shown through with effort. "I just don't know... I don't know what you want. If it's the same on your end."

Hell, I should have just shut up." He thought bitterly. There was so much he would've given. But inside that coldblooded, psycho killer, there was still half a human heart, and he cursed it with such fiery hate at that very moment. What he would give to take it all back and just kiss her instead. Marcello leaned in, his forehead touching hers. His eyes burned with intensity. "Just tell me what it is. If you really want your inner beast to come out, I'd love to help you. I really, really would. But if you don't, then let me know now."

Kalina pulled back some when he cursed, then a small smile formed on her lips as she listened to him. Closing her eyes as he rested his forehead against hers. When she opened them she saw the intensity burning within, "I really do want my inner beast to come out Marcus. The relief one feels when they just let go....help me get there. Help me find my inner peace." Kalina as she rubbed her nose against his for a second and then smiled. Her eyes had a fire burning in them and there were also sparks of curiosity in them as she waitied to see what would happen. Then she gave him her big brown puppy dog eyes as her fingers on her left hand moved through his curls gently, "Help me?" Kalina asked.

That final plead- those two, simple little words- were what finally severed the last strings of his resistance. Marcello couldn't fight it anymore, didn't want to fight it. It had been too long since he had felt an embrace like this. He wasn't sure exactly what it was, but he didn't care anymore.

Marcello growled, letting the wolf show for just a fraction of a second, letting it flash behind his eyes. Then his lips were upon hers, sharp, firm, like the forte of a crescendo, a blissful, sweet promise, and the arm that wasn't supporting him was now enveloped in her scented hair, keeping her close. There was a slight envy for Brico then, to have this so nearby. An envy for every man with a loving woman. Marcello drowned it out with his passion, only daring to pull away to breathe. His face was wild, save for the happy, half- satieted grin that permeated his features.

"You know, I once nearly drowned for that." He said breathlessly. It was addictive. Marcello leaned in again to kiss her with only slightly less urgency, although the raw energy was still evident in the stiffness of his muscles. Oh, if only Luna knew. What things would get back to Brico about Marcello, the home-wrecker. "It was worth it."

That kiss, it opened up a wall of emotions. A growl of her own escaped as one hand locked into his hair and the other one pulled herself closer to him. When he broke away from the kiss she took deep breaths and she chuckled. "So it was worth it ay?" she asked playfully and then she was kissing him this time. They were raw with passion and she nipped his bottom lip some, accidentally once biting a little too hard and drawing blood. "Oops..." she said as she pulled back for a second, an innocent look in her eyes before she moved her tongue slowly across his bottom lip, licking up the blood before going in for another kiss. This was the part of Kalina that she kept under lock and key...and now it was coming out.

He loved the way she moved, how she felt, the taste of her lips, it all put him under a spell, as if she had cast an enchantment upon him with her eyes. It was a hard thing to resist. Marcello let himself wander in her enchantment. As he did so, his wolf flickered dangerously close to the surface, only to submerge again under his consciousness, then reappear to skim along the border. 'I've got you.' The man reared it in once more as his mouth descended upon hers. The sudden flow of emotion had brought a change looming, but Marcello had control over it. That is, until he tasted blood.

His body locked against the sudden lunge that came from inside him. He didn't want to phase with his emotions so out of control, not when her face was only half an inch from what could be a full set of sharp teeth, but he wanted dearly, so dearly, to give into it, the let the other side of him do as it pleased. Kalina would need to let her beast out first. Only then could he feel comfortable with his other skin. Fraught with the sudden need to force her change, Marcello took one of Kalina's wrists and moved to loom over her. His mouth lingered by her ear.

"Do you feel it?" He growled. His teeth nipped the flesh under the curve of her jaw, before they traveled back up again. "Just let go of everything. Feel inside you. Let your wolf take control." With that, his mouth captured hers again. It was a battle of the wills now.

Her skin shivered as he touched her and when he growled she answered with one of her own as she nipped at his ear and kissed down his neck. The wolf in her was threatening to come out and when he asked if she could feel it she looked at him with a fire burning in her eyes, of course she could feel and she knew that he was feeling it too. When his mouth captured hers again she kissed him for just a moment before pushing him away and shifting, a growl escaping from her jaws as she looked at Marcello and licked her lips. Let's see what you got handsome she thought as she approached him slowly, almost as if stalking her prey. Crouching down she jumped onto him and nipped at him gently, her tail wagging as she looked at him.

The moment she moved away to shift, his own body took over. Marcello's face fractured into the wrinkles of a snarl, his complexion turning from tan to black, fur sprouting from skin, teeth growing, eyes glowing like a ripe harvest moon. The change rippled through him till it sent shivers down his spine. When the wolf completely came through, he pulled back his lips in a wild, sharp grin. It had been a long time coming.

'Lovely, lovely,' He praised, watching her start to pace. Marcello kept up the same rhythm- he could move to the flow of her beat; each was step deliberate, smooth, in sync, a perfect companion to hers, right up to the jump. He let the weight roll on top of him, feeling his paws press into the soft dirt underneath. Teeth skimmed his ear. Marcello rounded about so that his own teeth nipped at the soft velvet of her nose in return. Rolling his shoulders, he let her slide off only so that he could face her again and take in the sheer beauty that was this new side, this wild creature, this lovely other side of Artemis, like a child of the night. A streak of white reminded him of a shooting star. This was the stuff that inspired Michelangelo, Divinci. This was passion.

The werewolf moved forward suddenly and butted his head just under Kalina's ribs, trying to knock her off her feet. A playful growl pressed his throat.

Kalina had a wolfish smile on her face as he nipped at her too, pushing at him with her paws as she let out a happy bark. When he gave her a playful nudge she stood her ground and crouched down some, her rump in the air as she wagged her tail. Then Kalina jumped on him and started a play fight. Kalina nipped his ear and then licked his cheek before pushing at him with her paws, urging him to play with her. Jumping back she barked at him and then turned her back at him, crouching down and shaking her rump at him in a teasing sort of way. Kalina wanted to fight with him, wanted to try to see if he could dominate her.

He bared his fangs at her display, fully prepared to go along with this play fight that she had initiated. Beating his paws down on the sand, he mocked her body posture and shook out his tail- an acceptance if there ever was one, for he was elated at the freedom they had now to walk around in wolf skins. There came a clipped, warning bark. Then he was dashing after her, sending dirt flying behind him.

The black wolf made to knock her over again. He ran up along her side and set his teeth gingerly around the fur of her neck, only letting go to set a paw on top of her back and push off again. Marcello nipped at her forearm to make her loose her balance. It was a game to see who would go belly-up first, and he had every intent to win this one. 'Show me whatcha got, sweetheart.' The wolf used his body mass to shoulder her. 'Let's see what you're offering.'

Kalina was laughing on the inside at this game and showed in her eyes as she nipped at him. When he nipped at her forearm she growled but didn't loose her balance like he had anticipated. Ramming into him she pushed on him with her paws, taking one of his ears in her teeth gently. Then she jumped back and crouched on the ground, crawling with her belly almost touching the ground as she stalked her prey. Kalina lunged at him, grabbing the scruff her neck and holding on as she tugged on him, trying to get him down. She wasn't biting down hard enough to where it would hurt but just enough so she could hold on, growling playfully as she wagged her tail.

When it was clear that he wasn't going to be able to muscle her down, he stopped trying. She was sturdier than he had anticipated. Not necessarily a bad thing, in fact it was quite alluring, but it mean that he would have to change up his tactic. Marcello shifted after she pushed into him and ran off again. This time he did not give chase. He waited patiently, a solitary ebony blur in the night, his ears pricked forward like sentinels, listening for the rustling of leaves. Just before Kalina made contact with his scruff he moved.

Kalina had still gotten her grip on his neck, but Marcello rolled with it. Taking her up in his long black arms he twisted around her. At first it had been him to hit the ground, but as he continued to roll, he managed to flip her over him body so that she was the one lying in the dirt. 'Ha! It wasn't like she was going to stay there long. Leaning down, Marcello pressed his nose into the base of her neck. He gave a light snarl of triumph, daring her to get free. 'Try getting yourself out of that one.'

Never had he felt so utterly, completely liberated.
